If I could take any credit for the little girl that Sophie is, this might be considered bragging, but I can’t. It’s just telling it like it is. She is just such a suprise after reading/preparing/bracing ourselves for toddler adoption. It’s called “hoping for the best, but expecting the worst”. Well, I don’t think we were prepared for how easy and wonderful Sophie was going to be from the beginning. She is so brave, she’s learned to have fun in the baby pool, had 5 shots in one day and sat there and watched while the phlebotomist sucked 5 tubes of blood out of her arm. She is always trying to help out, copying what she sees my doing. When I gave her a basket full of play dishes and cups, she busily organized them until she had a lovely doll place setting. She is so loving and generous, she is always willing to share, even if it’s something she loves. The other day at lunch I caught her feeding her baby (she prefers Baby Tad over the adorable dolls we’ve collected for her). She started to take a chip out of his mouth to eat it, but thought better of it and put it back. Such things just make a mother’s heart swell with love and admiration for her and her ability to give, even when she comes from a background of so little. Whenever anyone gets hurt and cries, she is always the first one there, concerned expression and all, to offer a hug and a rub on the arm. Now all this wonderful doesn’t come without a little fussing and griping, but let’s just say, we’re blessed indeed.

What a beautiful child (inside and out!). Her compassion is so sweet to read about. :o) I’m going into this expecting, but hoping, as well.
