Down but not out

Our computer crashed. My beloved, well used computer died on me. Honestly, I still can’t believe I lost all that information and yes, I did shed some tears over all the pictures I lost. Every picture since February of 2006. Thankfully I did have them developed so I have the actual photos, but I don’t have them saved anywhere. I also had several journals that were lost. Definitely going to start using that external hard drive Chris bought a while ago.
So I am using our little laptop for the essentials, but I have no pics and not a lot of patience with this little thing. Plus things have been crazy around here. C R A Z Y. But in a good way. I will share all the details when I get a chance.

Oh no! I am so sorry! Back in April 2006, I deleted my entire hard drive and lost all photos and documents for the past 6 years. I tried a recovery program but it only recovered a small portion of my electronic life. I cried many tears since I lost, among other things, all of Hana’s adoption journey photos (and I really wanted to do a movie for her). It was very hard to get over, but I’m back in business and back-up my data on a constant basis! So sorry about your computer.

Have been viewing your blog for a little while now, and haven’t commented but wanted to offer some advice. Every few weeks (maybe even once a month)…copy your photos to CD, or another great way to save them is to upload them to kodakgallery.com

Not sure how many they hold for free, but I have a bunch of photos saved on an account there, and I can order prints, or CDs of them. Thought that might help. I know your pain…the same thing happened to me, and I lost all the photos of my cat who had passed away. Luckily I had some actual photos, but I didn’t have them on my laptop anymore.

    Oh I am so sorry!

We had this happen to us once, but thankfully, my husband had just downloaded our photos to the external drive. PHEW! Lost everything else though.. How frusterating for you. Good thing is, now you can take all those pictures and scan them and have them put on CD! Sorry about the journals though. 🙁

Look forward to hearing about the “crazy good” happening in your neck of the woods!

    🙂

Holy cow Stef… I would be in mourning for years!! My photos are so much a part of me… time to start saving them to disc. Wow. I’m SO sorry… that is really, really tough. Glad you had the hard copies though.

I miss you guys! So busy with the paperchase… almost there, God willing.

This is my nightmare! I try and upload my pics to yahoo on a regular basis and make CDs of them. Yahoo will let you upload as many as you want, no limit, and the new version will even let you download the full file at any time. You can also send them to be printed at Target off yahoo. Love Yahoo photos!
