Today marks one year since Isabelle came home from the hospital after her open heart surgery.
Honestly, today her heart issue is really a non-issue for us. She can run and play just like any other two and a half year old. She has no restrictions and the pediatric cardiologist feels confident that she does not need to be monitored by anyone other than a pediatrician unless anything comes up.
It is amazing to me how well she has healed, both physically and emotionally since that cold day in January when we were finally allowed to bring her home. She had fought the nurses like a tiger, she hated having to lay still with tubes and wires coming out of her.
She looked around for me, but found little solace in having me there. She was frightened, but too much of a survivor to let anyone know.
She has changed so much from that little girl. The changes that have taken a lot of time, consistent love and constant reminders that we are and will be there for her.
And oh, what blessings we have reaped.
Thank you, Belle, for trusting us enough to let us love you.

I wish all the best with your new son-he is too cute in that outfit.

That is wonderful! I can’t tell you how much I look forward to that day when we can make a similar post – no medical issue – that is all behind us. Congratulation Isabelle on being such a beautiful child and giving your mommy and daddy the joy of having you for a daughter.
