We made it! AND, big bonus, all of our bags made it, too! Between LeeAnn and I, we had 5 huge checked bags, 99% full of donations for the little ones at An Orphan’s Wish. I was so excited by the outpouring of donations, that and the fact that I was able to stuff them all into a small enough space to be allowed by the luggage police at the airport.
Kirsten picked us up at the airport, she was quite a sight for sore eyes after over 40 hours of travel. I imagine the two of us were something to behold. We’d long passed the stage of punchy and had moved on to the point of warning those around us to not hold us accountable for anything either of us might say or do.
The hotel is lovely, the beds are squishy and I am happy to report I was able to sleep for a solid 5 1/2 hours. That’s without any medicinal intervention. After waking at 3:30, I laid in bed until I felt it was a reasonable hour to be erect and made my way to the safe haven when one has a roommate that is still snoozing: the bathroom.
I then proceeded to spend longer than anyone should showering, applying makeup and brushing my teeth. At home I have no such luxury, so I’m taking full advantage here. I hope the kids at the unit can appreciate flawlessly applied mascara.
The plan is for Kirsten to pick us up after breakfast and take us over to the unit. I can hardly stand it. We’ll be spending as much time as possible over there, helping in any way we can, and squeezing in some lovin’ on all those precious faces. Check back later for pictures!
