Asher means “happy” in Hebrew. If ever a child truly embodied his name, it would be my boy.
He is happy.
He loves sweets. It couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the fact that I craved cherry pie filling during my entire pregnancy.
I must have eaten a lot of said cherry pie filling because Asher weighed almost a pound and a half more than any of my other kiddos.
And he’s still big. At 10 years old, he wears a size 9 men’s shoe. And size 12 jeans. His hands are almost as big as mine. And he eats more than Chris and I put together.
He loves school this year, much more so than last year. His teacher last year was cranky. That’s all I’m saying about that.
Now he’s got an amazing teacher who encourages him and is able to help him stay focused and on task. He says he likes her because she’s funny. And nice.
Clearly, he’s not wordy like his mama. And we might want to knock the dust off the ol’ Thesaurus.
At bedtime, he insists that both Chris and I tuck him in and say prayers with him.
He prays for his family, his friends. He prays for people he knows that need help. He prays for orphans in China. And prays that they will find a family. Every night.
I am hoping to take Asher along with me to China for Vivi. There isn’t a better big brother on the planet.
He has recently taken up the trumpet.
He just finished up the longest football season in history. He played center and did, if I do say so myself, a magnificent job of getting the football to the quarterback.
He did not, however, enjoy tackling the opposing team. He’s more of a gentle giant than a tough guy.
And I sure do like him that way.

okay, well…I didn't grab the button, but I just had to comment because your Asher reminds me SO much of my Dawson. From the size and appetite, to his gentle heart and still loving to cuddle and be tucked in at night with bedtime prayers. What a precious gift our Father has lavished upon us in these precious boys!
Have a blessed week! <><

I'm 'borrowing' your sunday idea since you gave the okay. I love it. I talk about all my kids all the time in my blog, but i really don't take time to focus on one special boy. Thanks for the idea….I started today.

He is so precious, and we love him so much.
He and Noah have so much in common, that's why I wish we were closer so they could know each other better.
Give him a tight squeeze from us.
Love you all!
