The day finally arrived.
I wasn’t sure who was going to be more thrilled that today was finally here. Isabelle, because she’d been talking about her special day, nightly, for six long months. Or me, because she’d been talking about her special day, nightly, for six long months.
But I couldn’t hold a candle to this girl today.
She was seriously floating on air.
From the time her feet hit the floor this morning.
She was, as her new hat clearly indicated, the birthday princess.
She helped me bake her choice of cakes: “brown on the inside with pink on top.”
She also requested tiny pinwheels to adorn her cake. Unfortunately, T@rget doesn’t sell any such tiny pinwheels. Humph.
One thing we’ve learned about Isabelle, she definitely marches to the beat of her own drummer.
And she has captured us: hook, line and sinker.
It’s pretty hard to be around this girl and not fall in love with her.
I might be slightly biased, though.
She loved her do-it-yourself popsicle supplies.
And her ZhuZhu Pet, “Pinkie”.
And her clothes from Tea.
She soaked it all. in.
And just loved every second.
It was just a few years ago that an event like this would throw this little one into sensory overload.
But today, just over five years home, she was the picture of calm. Joy. Serenity.
She has come so far. In so many ways.
It’s hard to prepare for a day when you know someone has been looking forward to it for months and months. And months.
When expectations are running very, very high.
But some how,
I think we managed.
Happy sixth birthday, sweet Isabelle.
We are immeasurably blessed to be your mama and baba.
Y’alls Snapshots were so sweet last week. Seriously. It was hard to choose… but my very favorite was one that not only made me smile big, but had one of the best ideas I’ve seen in a long time. Over at 3 Peanuts. Yes, I will be using her ‘list’ idea next Father’s Day. Genius.
To join in this week, just copy the code under the Sunday Snapshot button and paste it into the body of your Sunday Snapshot post where you’d like the button to be displayed. Once you hit ‘publish’ it should show up just fine 🙂
Then add your link below.
To do this, go to your blog. Click on the title of your new Sunday Snapshot post. The new url in your browser window will be a direct link to your Sunday Snapshot post. Copy that url and paste it into the inLinkz window below. If it’s just a general link to your blog, I’ll have to remove it. And I hate that.
Feel free to link up on Monday if you’re too busy on Sunday. I’ll leave the inlinkz open through Monday night… because I know some folks who like to link up a little late. Like me 🙂
