Y’all know me pretty well.
I’m basically an average girl.
Nothing especially special.
But for some reason, God chose to entrust me with volunteering for (and in the process losing my heart to) the little ones at An Orphan’s Wish.
And it’s been an adventure ever since the word ‘go’. I feel so blessed to be part of an organization that does so much to truly care for the “least of these”.
Working with them, for them, has made me feel very special, indeed.
Since January, when I officially became the US Director, things have gone amazingly well. We’ve started off slowing, growing from a volunteer team of just a handful, to over 40. Getting everyone in just the right spot has been a bit of a challenge for this not-so-organized gal, and has included various and sundry panic attacks on my part, but thankfully He has sent the perfect people at the perfect time to intercede. And He has continued to guide us as we grow and gain momentum.
Now that fall is almost here and kiddos are (almost!) in school, we’re ready to get busy… getting the word out, raising awareness, raising funds to support the work An Orphan’s Wish is doing in China.
But we need some help. Help from someone who wants to become a part of making a difference in the lives of orphans in China. Help from someone special.
We have a vital position that needs to be filled: Administrative Director. If you are interested, please read on. Any background and experience is wonderful, but not necessary.
As a leadership position, you’d need to feel comfortable delegating duties and being responsible for the the work of those on your team. You’d also need to have a desire to help us with one of our most important functions at AOW: fundraising!
Here is the official job description. Please feel free to ask any and all questions, we hope that, even if you don’t have any experience but really want to volunteer in this capacity, that you’ll complete the application.
Starting September 1st, An Orphan’s Wish needs a volunteer to fill the position of Administrative Director.
Duties for this position include:
1. Work with the financial aspects of AOW, not hands on, but must maintain a good working repor with our Financial Coordinator and help her tackle any issues should they arise.
2. Work closely with the Fundraiser Coordinator to get things organized and functional:
a. coordinate a 2010-11 calendar of activities
b. help institute fundraising ideas and help put them in motion
c. addressing additional needs that arise in the fundraising arena
3. Work with a Grant Writer(s) when that is introduced, as of now we do not have any volunteers for grant writing.
Fundraising is a huge part of AOW, and we are hopeful that between the Administrative Director and the Fundraising Coordinator (and her team of volunteers), these two will be able to come up with some great strategies for seeking out support for AOW, both grass roots and local events, and if possible, even move into corporate fundraising.
The Financial Coordinator and the Fundraising Coordinator will report to the Administrative Director, and the Administrative Director reports to the US Director, which is me 🙂
A background in fundraising or corporate events would be a plus, but not necessary.
Please complete the Volunteer Application here, even if you are already an AOW volunteer… it will help us stay organized.
Applications are due by Monday August 23rd, all applicants will be notified by Friday August 27th.
Thank you 🙂
