ouch

This is the face that greeted me when I let the dogs in last night at approximately 11:30PM.

Chris and I spent the next 2 1/2 hours wrangling a surprisingly strong dog, trying to extricate the offenders from sweet, stupid Seamus’ face and leg.

One bugger was actually lodged inside his nose.

Minus the gagging, it was the closest thing we’ve had to a date night in weeks. At this age, and with as many kids as we’ve got, we’ll take what we can get.

Hope your weekend holds lots of surprises.

Oh. My. Goodness. I would comment on this….but I am feeling a bit nauseous. :) Happy Date Night though?!!

  3. Myra says:

That maybe the most pitful thing I've seen in ages….BUT, I did laugh myself silly….sorry pup I feel kinda bad for that because I KNOW that hurt!

  4. Stacy says:

GASP! Oh my! Poor thing!EEKS…just now saw the ones on his leg!!! That's one mischievious dog you've got there!

  5. Stefanie says:

It was awful, really. Sweet little bugger had no clue what he was messing with in that porcupine!

  6. Coffee Please!?! says:

oh my!!! we have boxers too — and by far that beats our popped stitches or broken toe that we've had with them…hope you're all feeling better today. i'm sure the kidlets are taking extra, special care of him today!

  7. jessica ann says:

  10. Cupcakes and Hairbows says:

That pic could win a pet contest! So cute — he looks like he's saying, "aren't you gonna take care of this?"

  11. Jean says:

    Ouch- that poor doggy!

At least you got a semi date out of it!

Did you have to wear heavy/ garden gloves to get them out?

  12. Valerie and Jeff says:

That look … it's priceless, and I feel SO sorry for him! Will he have learned his lesson or take on the porcupine again? Hmmm …
Way to make the best of the situation and make it a "date-night". Funny how parenting redefines that.
Hey, on another note, would you ever consider sharing your crock pot mongolian beef recipe that you referenced making last year?

  13. Cora says:

OH NO, poor dog and he looks pathetic. I thought it was bad when our Jack Russel got skunked at 3 in the morning, that is definitely worse.

  14. Jill says:

Poor POOR SEAMUS!!! Poor lil Buddy!

Okay…and I will say poor you too!!

    ;)

  15. Virginia says:

OH, poor pup! Typical Boxer. Glad he's all better now. He sounds like what they call a hot mess.

    Gin =)

  16. Football and Fried Rice says:

Awwww..that is so sad :( Poor guy! These are times (along with pooping & puking) that I wonder WHY I have a dog?! lol!!! Oh, but the joy they can bring!

  17. Chrissie says:

Ouchola is right … poor thing, but the picture is priceless.

  18. Wendy says:

That might just be the greatest photo you have ever taken! That dog is so photogenic! He always seems to find some mischief and the look on his face is priceless. It's a dog's life :)

You know, that dog is so funny, he should have his own blog!

  19. Mom Of Many says:

Oh.My.Gracious. That just looks like too much fun for everyone. Not jealous {at.all.} of a date night like that! Think I'll pass on date night if that's what's on the 'menu'. And for real, you bring the kids and they can stay with us while you go away on a REAL getaway…like the overnight kind {for a few days}..not.even.kidding…it would be a crazy blast!

  20. Brandi says:

My husband said your picture looks like the front of a greeting card that would say inside "Cheer up- it could be worse":0
I know it will be a night y'all will never forget!

  21. Kim says:

    OUCH!
But I must say … that is a GREAT photo!
And the most creative 'date night' I think I've ever heard of!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
    Kim

  22. One Mom says:

Oh that looks so painful for everyone :( I don't think I've ever seen that in real life before. Hope everyone is better today

  23. Shirlee McCoy says:

I'm so glad you had such a ROMANTIC date night. hehehehee

  24. Heather (Chaos Controller!) says:

    O-U-C-H!!

But what a great way to spend some 'quality' time with your husband! :)

  26. Annie says:

Oh my, poor baby!!! I am glad we don't have those pesky porcipines down here:) Sad to say, your date night was more than we have had in a really lloonngg time! Hehe!

  27. Denise says:

Oh my goodness, I am feeling bad that I am laughing right now! This makes my statement that pets are sometimes harder than kids seem very true! Glad you and Chris were able to spend some time together…lol~

  28. Karin says:

Oh wow…I've never seen that up close and personal. Hopefully puppy learned his lesson?? :)

  29. Janet and Kevin says:

  30. ashia says:

oh my! bless his heart!! :(

  31. Lee Ann says:

    ohhhh, poor baby!

  32. Deanna, (aka Dj, and Deej.) says:

Ouch is right! Poor guy! (beware of the skunks too… they arent much fun either!)

  33. Dardi says:

I guess I should be glad that our boxer has just been digging a ginormous hole by the deck, but something tells me that if given the opportunity, she wouldn't hesitate to attempt entertaining herself with a porcupine, either. Tell Seamus to go back to tearing apart planters!

  34. Serline says:

Ouch! I hope he is alright. Poor dog, I can feel the pain for him too! …

  35. Tish says:

hey hey hey! just bustin' through your posts getting caught up on your clan….so CONGRATULATIONS on Miss Poppy!!! What a doll! I am so excited for you guys…don't know how you do it, but so very excited! They should erect a statue of you at the White Swan or something! Seriously, I am so very happy for you, girl! And LOVE her name!

  36. Aus says:

I'll agree that Seamus is a dumb dog – if and only if – the next time he sees a porcupine he does ANYTHING but run the other way!

Still – I feel for him….and you guys – what a date night!

    hugs – aus and co.
