I have a heart for orphans. And over the past two years, God has given me a love for the orphans in China, specifically those with special medical needs. The waiting children. And while it seems it is not in God’s plan right now for our family to adopt, I want to do something to help those who work tirelessly for these precious little ones.
And that is how the Run for the Little Flowers Virtual 5K was born. The proceeds from the run will go to The Little Flower Projects, a US registered non-profit that loves and cares for orphans in China with special medical needs. You can visit their website and Facebook page to see the all wonderful work they do.
This run is special because you can run or walk it wherever you are! If you do not want to walk or run, but would still like to donate to this cause, you may do that as well.

Three years ago at this time, God was preparing our hearts for the arrival of a son. He was a beautiful two-year old “heart baby” with Tetralogy of Fallot from Jiangxi province in China. In January, 2010, we traveled to China to adopt our son, and from the moment that we brought Daniel into lives, our family fell head over heels for him. We spent four blessed months together until that May when we took Daniel in for his corrective open-heart surgery. While our plans included our son coming home with us, God had another plan and took Daniel Home to Heaven instead.
Almost immediately, I knew in my heart that I needed to write a book. It became a priority that I honor Daniel’s life and share his story with the world, since he was no longer here to do so. It also became crystal clear that I needed to glorify God for giving us the gift of Daniel’s precious life in the first place. Our family’s intense pain and suffering were totally outweighed by our sheer gratitude to God. Our son knew the love of a family, and we were immeasurably blessed by having him in our lives.
After two years in the making, I have finally — joyfully — released With an Open Heart. We hope and pray that Daniel’s story — our story — finds its way into homes and makes a difference in one way or another. As many of you are adoptive families, I know that you will understand and appreciate our adoption journey, since many of you have been on those journeys of faith yourselves. And even if adoption hasn’t been a part of your life, you will still (hopefully) be inspired by this story of love and faith.
For all purchases made this month, through the Ni Hao Y’all blog, we will donate 10% to the charity of Stefanie’s choice. Simply go to our website and purchase the book through the PayPal prompts in the right column. You will see a drop-down menu of charity choices, so scroll down and choose “Stefanie’s Choice.” I can hardly wait to hear which charity she chooses!
I thank you all in advance for opening your hearts to our family’s special project. We hope that the story’s message of hope and faith far outweighs all else, and that Daniel inspires you to live, listen, and leap with an open heart!
And if you happen to be traveling to the upcoming Women of Faith conference in Kansas City on November 2nd and 3rd, please come by and see With an Open Heart featured in the BookStub Gallery! The first 50 visitors will receive a free download of our e-book format!
Blessings,
Lisa Murphy

So many of us have followed Ivy’s amazing story since she was placed in Mary’s arms in China just eight months ago. We have marveled at the way prayers have been answered for this precious child. Now, more than ever, Ivy Joy needs your help… Ivy Joy is scheduled for life saving open heart surgery on Friday, October 19th.
1. Buy a t-shirt or buy multiple t-shirts.
2. Spread the joy by spreading the word on your blog and facebook.
3. Pray for Ivy Joy, for Mary and Bryan and for the entire family as they faithfully let Ivy go into this surgery she so desperately needs.
Mary will be updating her blog with Ivy’s Boston schedule. Please stop by and leave Mary a note of encouragement on her blog.
Thank you for loving this baby girl and her family!
