About six weeks ago I mentioned beginning a new study, and sharing it here on the blog. Lots of y’all were jazzed about it. And so was I.
And now, I’m ready to go. We finished up Knowing God last week and it was soooo good. So hard but so incredibly rewarding.
For this study, after much prayer and consideration, I have chosen The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism. You can check out the reviews of it here or here or here.
Here is my challenge for you. Join me. The book is 14 chapters, about 250 pages. It costs a bit over $10 and its subject matter is, whether you are a Christian or not, the most important thing you’ll ever contemplate. Eternity is too long to not know where you’re going. If you’re a solid believer or a wobbly seeker, I encourage you to read along with us and join in on this study. I promise, it will be time well spent.
I’ll host the study here, beginning May 14th. We’ll discuss one chapter a week – so the study will go for 14 weeks. I’ll post my thoughts on the chapter every Tuesday and y’all can share your thoughts in the comments and/or write your own post and link up (will post a linky if there is enough interest in that).
Here is more information on the book and its author Timothy Keller:

Timothy Keller Sermons (free audio downloads) – highly recommended listening:
Exclusivity: How can there be just one true religion?
Suffering: If God is good, why is there so much evil in the world?
Absolutism: Don’t we all have to find truth for ourselves?
Injustice: Hasn’t Christianity been an instrument for oppression?
Hell: Isn’t the God of Christianity an angry Judge?
Literalism: Isn’t the Bible historically unreliable and regressive?
Doubt: What should I do with my doubts?
You can purchase the book at CBD for $10.49 + shipping or at Amazon for $11.64 + shipping.
If you’re ready to commit to this study, please fill out a short questionnaire here. Don’t worry, it’s for my eyes only, I just want a smidge of information from those of you with whom I’ll be spending the next 14 weeks.
If you have some questions, feel free to email me (linked in the upper right sidebar) or leave a comment here. Please don’t be shy, I welcome any questions you have about something as essential as your relationship with God.
If you want to participate but cannot afford the book, please allow me to buy it for you and have it sent to you. Contact me at my email linked in the sidebar and I’ll get you hooked up asap.
Looking forward to learning more about Him and sharing with y’all here because truly, He is worthy.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. — Psalm 145:3

Perfect timing for me too! Just finishing up our Radical bible study group and was looking for something else to do over the summer (besides waiting on a referral, being dtc and all that!) Thanks for putting this together – I’m looking forward to joining you.

Hi Stephanie,
I just wanted to let you know that I just came across this post and will be purchasing the book and following along in your study group. I am 30 years late but I am finally starting to introduce myself to God and all HIs wonder, as I would love to have a better relationship with Him. Better late than never, i guess?!
Just wanted to say hi and thank for helping in my journey.

Hi Stephanie,
I tried to click on the link to sign up but it said I couldn’t now 🙁 My daughter in law , Amy Bliven-Lee, invited me to do your study. I have the book and would love to do it!

So sorry, Eileen. I had to close the study at 100 and we are now at 115! I’m not able to add any more to the group, but I hope you can still participate by reading the book and reading the responses of the ladies online 🙂
