The week went by too fast.
No time for pictures.
My mom came in on Tuesday and, well… if you know my mom you’d know why I haven’t surfaced since. She is a power house extraordinaire in a teeny tiny body. And there is nothing she loves more than a home project or two.
We finished up the faux paneling in the guest bathroom.
We repurposed some chairs for the dining room and a hutch for the girls’ room.
We hung curtains and rearranged the big girls’ room and (finally) hung some pretties on the wall.
We bought and potted some flowers for the front porch.
We shopped (and shopped and shopped) the local resale, consignment and thrift shops for a buffet for the dining room and some bar stools for the kitchen.
We scored on the buffet – an early 1900’s mahogany piece that was woefully ignored – for $100. But no bar stools.
And, in all that shopping, I found some great things. A (real) stop sign for the boys’ room for $25. And some depression glass (love!) for $2 each. A new-to-us upholstered chair for $49. And a sewing table for $29.
Mom left yesterday. I have a mirror to paint, 6 chairs to sand/prime/paint, a sewing table to paint and a buffet to repair and refinish. Once I’m done with that, the dining room will be complete. And I *think* I’ll be done.
Until I tackle the basement.

Thrifting is always so fun when you actually need something — and with your mom along, that’s doubly special. 🙂

I think I need to borrow your mom for a while to get me in gear! I’ve got my first (and only) child on the way, and I don’t even know where to start!

Time with your mom? GOLDEN! No excuse necessary.

Check out chalk paint! It’s awesome, and no need to sand, strip, or prime. I use a recipe for DIY chalk paint that is really cheap too. I’d be happy to share it if you decide to try 🙂

Can your mom come stay with me for a day or two? And bring Poppy with her to fold my laundry?
