This child.
She babbles constantly. But speaks rarely.
So rarely, we’ve been putting off pronouncing her official *first word*.
Sometimes she says Dada. Sometimes she says Mama. But nothing you could say for sure. (Chris and I might both be a smidge biased.)
But now.
Now she has a new love. And the love is strong.
So strong that when she says it, there’s no doubt. She’s saying it.
It’s “outside”.
She says it as she signs it.
And she signs it over and over.
Needless to say, we’ve been spending a whole lot more time outside.
Her other new infatuation is learning to stand.
She doesn’t have a word for it, but her zeal is evident by the fact that the only time she’s not asking to go outside, she is working on her standing skills.
Today she realized that the only thing better than going outside was going outside and trying to stand.
And, despite our efforts to explain the possible injuries she might incur, she wants no help in this learning-to-stand business, thankyouverymuch.
Girl’s got an independent streak a mile wide.
And a smile that’s even wider.
Looking forward to just standing back and watching this girl become everything God created her to be.
