I don’t blog much about everyday stuff since Instagram came into my life.
Honestly, it’s just so much easier to leave the big camera in the kitchen closet and pull out my iPhone to capture the day to day happenings.
But sometimes an ordinary moment deserves a little extra attention.
On an ordinary day after an ordinary bath, perched atop the vanity in the bathroom, Clementine stepped into the skirt I held out for her.
(I found this little Disney skirt at a thrift store and Clementine adores it to the point that it pains her to have to ever take it off.)
I helped her pull her shirt over her head – the one with the little Chinese girl on the front that I bought in China that belonged to Sophie. Then Vivienne. Then Poppy. And now her.
She stood back, smoothed out her shirt down and looked at herself in the mirror. A good, long look.
Then she said a word I’ve never heard her say – despite having heard it certainly a thousand times…
Yes, precious girl. You are beautiful.
And it is my prayer that you never forget – and that the world never causes you to doubt – that you are His masterpiece.
Perfectly, utterly and absolutely beautiful.
