'Round these parts, they celebrate Halloween the night before Halloween. And I'm cool with that, because I don't really like Halloween anyway. And it shows. My sweet baby Shepherd. Wearing the same darn thing he wore last year.Because he can.Jude posing as a pseudo-pirate.He acquiesced to my bribe request to wear the patch and hat. But only for the picture.Isabelle, like her little brother, in the same outfit as last year. Thankfully, she actually wanted to be a 'puppy' again, although most thought she was a lamb.Geesh.Again, same outfit, second year. Sweet Sophie happy … [Read more...]

mooncake fun

DSC_0010

I had really hoped that this recipe would turn out well.It did not.And yet, our time spent this afternoon was not for naught, as the girls had a great time making a huge mess of my kitchen mooncakes in honor of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival yesterday.Assemble your ingredients. It doesn't really matter if you follow the recipe, because you won't want to eat the end result. This is sort of like a very expensive and time consuming play doh project.Add the dry ingredients together and stir.In a separate bowl, add the sugar to the eggs.Mix well. Then mix some more.Mix so long … [Read more...]

his big day

DSC_0184

Today was a big day for my husband. So big, his parents even came to town. All the way from Texas. So big that the littles missed their nap and I was forced to substitute M&Ms for sleep. It didn't work, by the way.So big, I had to wear lots and lots of rubbery undergarments. The kind that are so thick and cumbersome, you wonder if your dress is tucked into your undies, because you'd never be able to feel it.I also re-discovered some panty hose I hadn't seen in years. It wasn't a joyful reunion. But we endured a 1.5 hour ceremony in which my husband was honored. And in … [Read more...]

scenes from my day

DSC_0101

Today is Isabelle's 5th birthday! We celebrated, in style, last night at Isabelle's favorite spot: BigDonald's (McDonald's in Isabelle-speak). The party was re-healllly fun, for a newly turned 5 year old. All made complete with a puppy cake, tiara and our best buddies, the Jobes. Pix posted here.Packers are done packing. Movers are here moving. It's getting pretty insane around here, but Chris and I are both so grateful it's not us him that is doing the work. We've moved ourselves before, and it ain't pretty. Definitely counting our blessings today. In many ways. We've … [Read more...]

double digits

DSC_0336

Somebody turned 10 years old yesterday.I'm not sad about it at all. Not. One. Bit.I mean, just because I can still remember the moment he entered this world like it was yesterday. Splotchy and pruned. And huge.Did I mention he was huge? A solid pound and a half bigger than all my other kiddos. And, in an ironic twist, the only one I delivered without even a hint of anesthesia. Not even a Tylenol.Nine pounds, two ounces. And a 14.5 inch head. But who's counting? I secretly think it was all the cherry pie filling I craved when I was carrying him.But that's all ancient … [Read more...]

Christmas Eve in pictures

IMG_2842

We had an early dinner and then headed to the 4:15 Christmas Eve service at our new church. Yes, we have found an awesome church, praise God!! We all thoroughly enjoyed the service, which, in and of itself is amazing since we had all the kiddos with us. Only Isabelle disrupted our worshipping mojo by mading a few unsuccessful escape attempts. But other than that, everyone was on their Christmas Eve best behavior. We came home and started a fire while we opened our traditional Christmas Eve gift.... a new set of jammies. After a fast bath for the little ones, everyone … [Read more...]

Readoption Day :)

Today, as most folks celebrated Valentine's Day, we traveled to the courthouse to readopt our precious Isabelle. Re adoption is optional, but we decided we wanted to go ahead and make it 'officially official'. It was a very special day, standing there in front of a judge, in a courtroom, and swearing to provide for her every need. Of course, she had no idea what was going on and had no qualms with fussing to get down right in the middle of everything. Thankfully I had a McDonald's toy stuffed in the diaper bag that entertained her long enough to … [Read more...]
