We spent the majority of our long weekend at home, working on the upstairs bathroom. Well, actually it was me on 'kid duty' and Chris upstairs, working away. I must admit, I was a bit jealous as the days wore on and the kids got punchy. The reason my better half has to do the work himself is that we had a bad experience with the carpenter that we hired to do the job. We realized he was overcharging us...big time....so we had to 'let him go'. So with no other carpenters available that meant that Chris ended up being the go-to-guy. Fortunately the … [Read more...]
Our littlest Valentine
I didn't post these on Valentine's Day because that was the day we readopted Isabelle and, well, that took precedence. But these pics are too cute not to share. So here they are. … [Read more...]
She’s getting SO big!
See how Isabelle has changed since our trip to China! She has gained a total of 8 pounds and grown 3 inches since her physical in Guangzhou. Here she is today at 24 pounds and 31". She's roughly at the 10% for weight and 25% for height. In early June in China she weighed 16 pounds and was 28". Her height was about 25% but her weight wasn't even on the growth chart. I wish it was as exciting when I gain a few pounds. … [Read more...]
Readoption Day :)
Today, as most folks celebrated Valentine's Day, we traveled to the courthouse to readopt our precious Isabelle. Re adoption is optional, but we decided we wanted to go ahead and make it 'officially official'. It was a very special day, standing there in front of a judge, in a courtroom, and swearing to provide for her every need. Of course, she had no idea what was going on and had no qualms with fussing to get down right in the middle of everything. Thankfully I had a McDonald's toy stuffed in the diaper bag that entertained her long enough to … [Read more...]
Chinese New Year
Well, today we celebrated Chinese New Year with our local FCC chapter in St. Louis. There was a great turnout, over 350 people, and lots of beautiful children in their silk outfits. Isabelle was no exception and it was fun to dress her in one of the (many) outfits we purchased for her while we were in China. She wasn't terribly interested in the amazing Chinese food they served, but she was mesmerized by the balloons and Chinese toys they gave away. Whatever it takes, right? I had contacted the family that had been offered Isabelle's referral and turned it … [Read more...]
My Pied Piper
Zach brought home a recorder from school the other day, all excited that he had his own 'instrument'. Actually, it's a plastic-y type clarinet for those of you who have never laid eyes on one. Well, Isabelle took to it immediately and, in true baby-of-the-family style, once she asked for it, she got it. It's pretty cute to watch her running around the house playing it. She actually seems to have more natural talent for it than her big brother. … [Read more...]
