Amanda from Starfish Foster Home needs help in the most immediate kind of way. She has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and upon further testing, it has become clear that she needs to get the very best care - in the US or Europe. Do you or does anyone you know serve as a senior administrator at a top quality cancer center? Please take a moment to read the note below from the Starfish Board of Directors and see if you, or someone you know, can help Amanda, a woman who has selflessly dedicated the last 7 years of her life to caring for the least of these … [Read more...]

and the winners are…

Without further ado, the God Is Love tee winners. But first, I just wanted to say how much I *loved* reading y'all's comments. I mean, L.O.V.E.D. it. I guess I was just expecting a short "since 2009" or something. But y'all... well, y'all are awesome. And made me smile so very big, many times over. If I'd have known how fun this was gonna be - reading your sweet comments and learning some precious bits of your own adoption stories - I'd have had this giveaway a long time ago. Except, it wouldn't have been a six year celebration if I had held this giveaway a long … [Read more...]

the winners. and a request.

Have chosen the the God Is Love tee winners and will post those later today. First things first... I am asking y'all to lift up David Bompart in prayer. Many of you already know about him and are praying hard for his recovery. Keep on praying! But for those who don't know, David and his wife, Nicolle, run a charity - Eyes Wide Open International - that we have partnered up with through Wild Olive. These folks are rock stars in all they do and have done for "the least of these" in Haiti. David was shot in the chest and abdomen while working to build an orphanage … [Read more...]

dear xiaoyun,

We hope they make you smile. oxoxox, Sophie, Isabelle, Jude, Shepherd, Vivienne and Poppy I learned about Xiaoyun from my friend, Annie. Annie also shared a link to a video that made me cry like a baby in which Xiaoyun shares her thoughts on being an orphan, and what we can do to help those left behind. Xiaoyun was adopted just days before she was to age out. … [Read more...]

summer wishing

Today marks the halfway mark in our Summer Wish campaign. And we are 48 sponsors short of realizing our wish. To fully fund the available sponsorships at An Orphan's Wish. Individual child sponsorships are available. For kiddos like Ellira. Who has made huge strides since arriving into our Clubfoot Unit. And Landon. Who has a heart defect, but he doesn't let it stop him from loving life. And the occasional ice cream cone. And Amy. Who lives in our Residential/CP Unit. And is just the cutest thing. AOW General Child … [Read more...]

a summer wish

Today is June 1st, Children's Day in China. And to celebrate the very special children in our care at An Orphan's Wish, we are launching A Summer Wish, our summer sponsorship campaign. Our wish is to find 65 new sponsors. Enough to fully fund the remaining sponsorships needed at the House of Love. Which really would be a dream come true. Hope you will visit the AOW site to check it out. And yes, there is a super cool t-shirt involved. … [Read more...]

thank you

... Amanda. The blankets for Poppy and Esther are just beautiful. I will definitely be taking Poppy's to China. And Esther's? I'll definitely be snuggling up with. Tonight. And to y'all who have prayed for us, lifted us up during this time, and reached out to us - by card, comment or FB post - thank you. I have read each one and been so encouraged, so wrapped in your love and support. Thank you. … [Read more...]

a very special birthday

My sweet friend, Laine, and I go back a ways. Several years ago our families got the chance to meet up in person - it was as if we'd known each other forever. I just love them so very much. And God used her family, and their story, in a big way on our journey to Esther. When they brought home Kevin just over a year ago - a precious little boy with a very serious heart defect - well... Chris and I were just blown away. At their faith, their courage, their focus on following God instead of the 'world'. You see, Kevin's special need was serious. So very serious … [Read more...]
