Sunday Snapshot: {the job}

Y'all did such a great job trying to guess what Chris' new job is. And I now have the green light to share. Soooooo, y'all ready? Chris will be Manager of International Programs at Lifeline. Yep, that Lifeline. My hardworking, orphan-loving man will get to use his time, talent and resources to help the fatherless around the world. We are still pinching ourselves. He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be … [Read more...]

a change of plans

Oh my goodness, y'all. So much good stuff going on. As y'all know, my man retired from the military last fall. He recently began a new job in the new field in which he wanted to work, and things were humming along. Okay, he was working crazy long hours and was completely exhausted (which, if you know the energy and the brute strength of my husband, is saying something), but we were so thankful for a job. And in his chosen field, no less. He also had his eye on a dream job. You know, the one that I asked y'all to pray about (thank each and every one of you who … [Read more...]

my guy. an update.

I shared a few weeks ago about my guy. And his current state of jobless-ness. Well, we got an answer back from his most recent interview, and the answer was a yes. Woohooo! But not a final yes. A yes-you're-into-the-next-interview sort of yes. So we continue to wait and trust in the Lord. God has shown up in so many ways during this potentially frightening time. Chris and I have been able to, for the first time, have a regular quiet time together, when we can discuss what God is laying on our hearts, what He is teaching us, how He is molding and shaping … [Read more...]

my guy

... is going on a really big job interview today. He's already been through an initial interview and a phone interview. Today is his face-to-face interview. Oy. This interview could possibly result in a dream job for him... but the chances of him actually getting this gig are pretty slim. Like 0.1%. Because, evidently, there are a whole lot of other people out there who would also love this dream job. Of course, we believe in a God who makes the seemingly impossible possible. But more than getting this job, we want to pursue God's plan for our lives. Chris' … [Read more...]

husbands and wives

disclaimer: I am a Christ-following, stay-at-home mama. So, it would naturally follow that this post is written from the perspective of a Christ-following, stay-at-home mama. My goal here is to encourage, and to help others who are struggling. This is simply my opinion, from lessons I've learned on this journey called life. I am not a professional, nor do I play one on TV. If you don't want to hear my thoughts on adoption, marriage and sex, stop reading now. Otherwise, let's do this thing. A question I hear frequently is, "How can I get my husband to agree to … [Read more...]

if I can, you can.

I blog. I don't speak. Speaking is just not my gift. Blogging isn't really either, but at least I can do that in the privacy of my own home, propped up on my comfy couch, wearing paint-stained sweats and socks with a hole in the toe. I can write, delete, and backspace all day. And the end result is, generally, my best effort at what I was trying to convey. But when I speak? It's ugly. My stomach turns. My pits become Niagra Falls. I can feel my face turn every shade of red. And once I open my mouth, it's all downhill. The best part? Afterward, I can't … [Read more...]

Sunday Snapshot: {Saturday Night Special}

I love Saturdays. For lots of reasons. But the biggest one? My husband is home. Ahhhhhhh. And on Saturdays, only on Saturdays, he has time to make my very favorite meal. Chicken Fried Steak, where have you been all my life? Of course, I could make it myself. But why? He makes it so much better than I. And all the work? The dipping? The frying? And the cleaning? Doesn't bother him nearly as much as it bothers me. Which just works for us. Because I? Like to do the eating. Hey, some things, I'm good at. … [Read more...]

howdy, red!

I said I'd post pictures. And y'all are really holding me to it. Thank you for that. First off, I want to mention that this is, most likely, not my natural hue. But since neither my stylist nor me are quite sure what my natural hue is, we just went for it. I told her to hit me with the color she liked the best - as long as it didn't have the word "carrot" in the name. And she did. So, here we go... just because I love you, I tried my best to get some pictures of myself with my new 'do. This isn't something I've done much before and clearly, I need … [Read more...]

Sunday Snapshot: {fini flight}

My man likes a lot of things. But he loves only a few. First of all he loves the Lord. He loves me. He loves his family. And he loves to fly. He will be the first to tell you, he's been infinitely blessed to be able to do something he loves for a living. Which in turn, blesses me. Because this guy doesn't need to spend the weekend on the golf course for some downtime. Or at the lake with a fishing pole. He really, really loves to fly. Sadly, this week brought his final flight in … [Read more...]

why I love my man.

This year I didn't have quite the foresight.Nor the energy.Nor the memory.Truth is, I forgot to call the babysitter to see if she would come stay with our kiddos so we could go celebrate an anniversary like most married couples.On a date.Alone. By the time I remembered, I was too ashamed to call her for fear that:1) I'd sound like a typical mother of 9, forgetting everything until the last minute, if at all.2) I'd actually have to put on uncomfortable undergarments. And wear a dress. And uncomfortable aka non-Born heels.Considering all the chocolate chip and Cheeto … [Read more...]
