Sunday Snapshot: {Saturday Night Special}

saturdaynight-1

I love Saturdays. For lots of reasons. But the biggest one? My husband is home. Ahhhhhhh. And on Saturdays, only on Saturdays, he has time to make my very favorite meal. Chicken Fried Steak, where have you been all my life? Of course, I could make it myself. But why? He makes it so much better than I. And all the work? The dipping? The frying? And the cleaning? Doesn't bother him nearly as much as it bothers me. Which just works for us. Because I? Like to do the eating. Hey, some things, I'm good at. … [Read more...]

howdy, red!

redhead-5

I said I'd post pictures. And y'all are really holding me to it. Thank you for that. First off, I want to mention that this is, most likely, not my natural hue. But since neither my stylist nor me are quite sure what my natural hue is, we just went for it. I told her to hit me with the color she liked the best - as long as it didn't have the word "carrot" in the name. And she did. So, here we go... just because I love you, I tried my best to get some pictures of myself with my new 'do. This isn't something I've done much before and clearly, I need … [Read more...]

Sunday Snapshot: {fini flight}

chris-finiflight-0709

My man likes a lot of things. But he loves only a few. First of all he loves the Lord. He loves me. He loves his family. And he loves to fly. He will be the first to tell you, he's been infinitely blessed to be able to do something he loves for a living. Which in turn, blesses me. Because this guy doesn't need to spend the weekend on the golf course for some downtime. Or at the lake with a fishing pole. He really, really loves to fly. Sadly, this week brought his final flight in … [Read more...]

why I love my man.

anniversary

This year I didn't have quite the foresight.Nor the energy.Nor the memory.Truth is, I forgot to call the babysitter to see if she would come stay with our kiddos so we could go celebrate an anniversary like most married couples.On a date.Alone. By the time I remembered, I was too ashamed to call her for fear that:1) I'd sound like a typical mother of 9, forgetting everything until the last minute, if at all.2) I'd actually have to put on uncomfortable undergarments. And wear a dress. And uncomfortable aka non-Born heels.Considering all the chocolate chip and Cheeto … [Read more...]

my man: the rebel

beach-1106

Several years ago, my man got a tattoo.Without my knowledge.I mean, we'd talked about him getting a tattoo, but there's a big chasm between talking about something and actually doing something.Especially something permanent. Like a tattoo.Guess my man is a bit of a rebel.Thankfully though, I dig it.Can you tell what it is? … [Read more...]

grace-driven what?

Ever have something to say, but don't really want to say it?It happens to me a lot, believe it or not.Especially here."Why?" you might be thinking, "You say ridiculous, embarassing stuff all the time!" And you'd be right.But some stuff even I consider, well... sorta personal.And when you have no idea who the majority of your audience is, that can be a little intimidating.Even more intimidating is knowing exactly who some of your audience is.Hi mom.Anyway, all that intro is just space to get me revved up to get to the point. I do believe I'm procrastinating.Mom, please … [Read more...]

Sunday Snapshot: {celebrating}

stefbday-0705

Today is my birthday.One year older. But wiser? Not so sure.Last night we went out to celebrate.Just me and my man. No kids. No diaper bags. No strollers.No waiting for the hostess' mouth to fall open at "table for 10 please." It was just the two of us.We had a lot to celebrate.Last week was his birthday.Today is my birthday.And tomorrow marks 13 years since the day we met.In a bar dance hall.Evidently he spotted me across the room. In my cowboy hat and ridiculously tight Rockies.It was a country western bar, folks. In the middle of Texas. And I was working a 13 … [Read more...]

an apple a day, or whatever.

chrisbday-0660

Looks innocent enough, doesn't it?A plain, cardboard box?Ahhh, but it's anything but plain. Or ordinary. It's a box we've been waiting for since early June.A box that contained, within it's six corrugated sides, a birthday gift, and a Father's Day gift.Now through 2015.I did try to keep it a surprise until it arrived. And I managed to keep it under wraps until Father's Day. But, since it hadn't arrived by then and there was, well, no other gift for the father around here... I kinda had to let the cat out of the bag.So we all knew exactly what was in the box.And none of … [Read more...]

Sunday Snapshot: {the trade-off}

NHY-0576

I promise, TM.I did not tell him.And I know he didn't read the post with your questions because can't even get on the blog at his office.Even if he wanted to.He just has this sixth sense about things that I want him to do. And most of the time, I don't even have to ask.He was so fast this afternoon, I couldn't even get 'before' pictures.Because you know I was just itching to take some pictures of the sloppy innards of my second home car.Not only was the job well underway before I caught wind of it, but he'd also enlisted the help of lots of little helpers.And by the … [Read more...]

my mother’s day

I really love my husband right now.He couldn't decide between two gifts for Mother's Day, so he asked me which one I wanted the most.And it was a good thing he did. Because the answer was neither.Chris has a very endearing habit of over doing it when it comes to gift giving for his lady.He was ready to drop over $2000 on a Mac Lapbook Pro.So, as I batted my eyes and thanked him for considering indulging me so, I told him what I really wanted this Mother's Day.A totally. clean. house. Top to bottom, spic and span.So he's been bustin' it all day. Moving couches. Dusting … [Read more...]
