How can I be completely exhausted and totally wound up at the same time?What. A. Day.We have been to the doctor. We have completed our Letter of Intent. And now we wait to see what China says.Sure hope they say yes.I'm not sure what I am allowed to share before we get PA. So I will tread lightly and be very conservative, lest I ruffle some feathers. Definitely don't want to do that. But I think I can share this.She is adorable.She is 11 months.She is missing her fingers on her left hand.She has almost no hair.She has the biggest eyes I've ever seen.And she still … [Read more...]
a recap
Last night:9:00PM - sitting on the couch, refreshing email just in case China released the new shared list early. Yeah, riiight. But you never know.9:30PM - eyes beginning to burn, starting to yawn. Definitely feeling the effects of not sleeping the night before. 10:00PM - in bed, iPhone tucked under my pillow. Suddenly feeling wide awake. Praying with Chris about the possibility of being blessed with a new daughter, and seeing her face for the first time.10:15PM - the sound of the phone breaks the silence. Oh yes it did.WAAAHOOOOOOOOO! I'll share more as soon as I … [Read more...]
Sunday Snapshot: {speculation}

We've spent many hours in the last six months wondering about the little one that would eventually join our family. Especially in the last few weeks, it's been a frequent topic of conversation.But in the last few days, it's been pretty much the only thing we talk about.So, for fun, I thought I'd compose a list of our speculations on our future daughter and sister. I asked every one within earshot a few questions about her, to see who might come closest to the little one that might, just might, be revealed to us sometime in the next 12 hours.And here are the … [Read more...]
a name
We need a name for our next bundle of joy.Choosing a name is something we take very, very seriously. After all, it's what said child will be called for the rest of her life. We've been at it for months and have a few we like, but nothing we love.I love Vivienne's name. Amazingly, I stumbled upon it and fell in love with it before I realized someone insanely famous had just used that name for her daughter. But I loved it enough to overlook that, and I'm so glad I did. I fall in love with Vivienne's name more and more all the time. Alas, I fall in love with her more and … [Read more...]
different
So why is this adoption so different?Well, I'm not sure. But one things I do know, it is.Different.It was only during our adoption of Isabelle (which we started out NSN) that we even got within spitting distance of a social worker before we had a referral picture in our sweaty little hands. And one framed by the bedside. And one laminated and tucked inside my purse. You get the idea.But this time we've just been moving forward. In obedience. The only driving force being God, and my husband's certainty that this is what we are to do. And now is the time.And even though … [Read more...]

my tummy hurts
I spoke with our agency yesterday (whom we love, btw) and our China rep confirmed that the shared list will be released Monday, September 20th, China time. Which, she reminded me, is Sunday night US time.And she said she'd have the in-China coordinator check on our LID, straight away.So I should find out something in the next few hours since our agency is about three hours behind us.Hoping for good news... but I'm not good at waiting. Makes my tummy hurt.Sorry, I'd love to talk about something else, but, well... not gonna happen today. I'm a bit distracted.Anyone else … [Read more...]

back to the story…
So where were we?Oh yeah. At the beginning. Or somewhere around there.We knew that we weren't going to be able to bring home this other child at the same time as Vivienne. And as far as my husband was concerned, that was the only way we were going to be able to adopt this particular child. So when the door closed, it was tough. And truly, we were absolutely, positively beside ourselves with excitement over bringing home our precious Vivienne. But still.Once I had been home from China for a few months, this impression of a sister for Vivienne began to surface. Some … [Read more...]
number 10
Oy.Where to start?First off, I'll cut right to the one question y'all probably have: Who??No one. Yet.We received our 797 on August 27th. And our dossier was winging it's way to China on September 3rd.I know. What!?!You're not the only one thinkin' we're crazy. I think it occasionally myself.So, what's the rest of the story?It started well before Vivienne came home.In the spring of 2009, there was another little one that stole my heart. Not away from Vivienne, as we knew without a doubt that she was our daughter. But I couldn't deny how strongly I felt about this other … [Read more...]
