favorite photo friday

glasses-1

Not what you were expecting, huh? Me neither. But after getting these bad boys in the mail today, I realized just how very, very nearsighted I am. So, for this Friday, my favorite photo is less about the photo. And more about what's in the photo... my new favorite thing. Thanks so much to everyone who left comments in my plea for help a few weeks ago. I read all your comments, did some research and then decided to stay in my sweats, not put on make-up, and order my glasses online. For free. Can't beat that with a stick. I do sort of wish I'd gone … [Read more...]

he didn't get the memo. You know, the doggie memo. That shoes and sticks and balls are for chewing. And that prickly pine cones? Are not. But I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less from our boy. Seamus has been known to do his own thing. And, in general, prefers to veer from the regular doggie rules of engagement. Our special dog even likes to have us throw his beloved pine cone for him. If we can get him to let it go long enough. And when it's finally launched, he bounds with unadulterated joy in that … [Read more...]

for today

PoppyHat-2

Because it's cold out today. I'm snuggled up. And lazy. And hungry. So I ate half a tray of sweet potato fries. While I was otherwise occupied, Vivienne and Poppy - who were not interested in sharing my sweet potato fries - got into some things. One of which was the basket of hats and mittens. The basket that I hadn't put back up from this morning. But Mr. Sock Monkey Hat made Poppy smile so very big. And she danced and pranced around the house so, that I just had to throw on her coat and take her out for a few pictures. Maybe, for … [Read more...]

hey, four eyes

It's been coming. For a long time. Today, I finally screwed up my courage and went to the optometrist. I'd been putting it off because, well... I knew it was going to be bad. The last time I'd had an eye exam was around the time Isabelle came home. In 2005. And since then, things have changed. Significantly. My old glasses barely made a dent in my nearsightedness any more. And it turns out, I was right. So, now I've got my new and improved prescription. I just need new glasses. And I know things have changed since I got my last pair of glasses. If … [Read more...]

I knew it would happen. I just didn't think it would happen before he became a teenager. Asher officially wears a size 13 shoe. As big as his daddy wears. And Chris has some seriously big feet. … [Read more...]

for mom

Nothing really post-worthy today, just a few tidbits to keep my mother happy. Seriously, she calls me when I update the blog to talk about what I posted - did y'all wonder too what that floor shot was on my last Snapshot post? "Oh that..." I told her, "it's a worm hole! You know a worm hole because the floors are so old?" "Oh, okay." She said, "I thought it was some dirt, or something." Some dirt? Or something? While we do get dirt, or something, on our floors regularly, that's the sort of thing I prefer not to photograph. Mom also calls when I … [Read more...]

howdy, red… 4 weeks later

red4weeks-3

Since y'all were there when I recolored my locks, I thought I'd update ya. Four weeks later. As expected, the red has faded. I don't hate it as much as I feared. And since the new color should stick more every time I get it recolored, in the meantime, I just try to wash my hair less often. And wear it up more often. Which has yielded some pretty unsightly hairdos. Exhibit A. Good thing it's only temporary. And good thing that I'm not terribly hung up on looking great (great being a very relative term). Because that takes a lot of … [Read more...]

this girl

... is determined. She managed to convince her other front tooth to come on out. Despite the fact that it was really no where near ready. I'm so grateful that she's got that tenacious spirit... because she gonna need it. She's making progress at school, but the upshot of our recent IEP meeting was that she might be ADHD. And that she might benefit from medication. Oy. After I picked my jaw up and I quit trying to shoot daggers out of my eyes, I listened to what they had to say. And now we struggle with the weight of what to do. Isabelle … [Read more...]
