First of all, let me say that I am so, so ridiculously excited to bring home Poppy. I mean, my stomach does flip flops every time I think about it. Which is about every 5 seconds. Flop. But there is a little part of me that is sad. And wants to drag out these last few days just a little… Read More
dinner tonight.
Just keepin’ it real. This is what Sophie Lulu ate for dinner tonight. Admittedly, I am still riding on the coattails of the homemade Memorial Day dinner I whipped up yesterday. That took me a ridiculously long time to make. But still. Macaroni and cheese? Out of the box? For shame. But some nights, especially Monday nights, I’m just happy… Read More
better
And this mama is so, so thankful. Never did pinpoint what they had, but it was not strep. Just high fever, nausea and the insatiable need for lots and lots of hours spent laid out on the couch sucking on sippy cups of Sprite. Must run now, though. While the girls might be recovered… My house is so very far… Read More
I’m afraid.
Very afraid. My sweet little Vivienne has succumbed to whatever it is that Isabelle still has. Which, based on the rapid strep test, is not strep. Vivi just started to feel yucky after lunch time. Now she’s burning up with fever. We’re rapidly running out of Sprite, Motrin, and NetFlix options for the 6 and under crowd. And couch space.
grief and W@lMart
… do not mix. I, unassumingly, went to W@lMart today for a few things. Milk. Manilla envelopes. Dog food. Play sand. You know, the good stuff. If you’ve been around here a while, y’all know we do Dave Ramsey. So on a typical Wally World excursion, I am in control: no excessive purchases, no unnecessary spending. But what I walked… Read More
my april fools day
I was awakened this morning to the sound of our phone ringing. At 5:00 AM. It was a recording of the kids’ principal calling to let us know that there would be no school today. Great, another snow day. Woot. So, I turned off the alarm and went back to bed. To be awakened two hours later by several inquiring… Read More
Vivi’s news
As y’all know, Vivienne is newly potty trained. Which also means. she is occasionally prone to potty mishaps. And, during this phase called potty training, we are in to all kinds of bribes encouragement at our house. Whatever it takes, if it costs less than $1, we are in. Vivi was exceedingly successful with the initial stages, when the praises… Read More
round 2.
Another day. Another snow day. Evidently, the weather is no respecter of my unbridled efforts to keep my driveway cleared. It has snowed, daily, since then. And between last night and this morning? We got another 12″. Pure insanity to this southern girl. So, in an effort to entertain themselves while waiting for the snow to slow down, they got… Read More
me vs. the snowblower
Snow, snow and more snow. It is New England, but really. Evidently, the answer to that is, “Yes. Really.” So today I had to put the ‘in theory’ knowledge into practice. If I wanted to make it out of the driveway at any point in the day, I was going to have to bite the snow-covered bullet. My patient-to-a-fault husband… Read More
distracted
Wow. Where have I been? Barely around at all. And yet, I am here. Oh, yes I am. Here at home. Haven’t left the house since Friday. The kidlets are sick. And getting sicker. There is a constant chorus of coughs around here. Cheeks flushed with fever. Little feet clamoring to the refrigerator to grab their juice cups. For the… Read More
