forever

What a day! I gotta say, having gotcha day in the middle of the afternoon made for one long day. In fact, by the time it was time, Asher and I were beside ourselves with excitement. And pit sweat. And nausea. At least I was. That is one thing that doesn't seem to change, no matter how many times I've come to China to meet and bring home our child... it's outrageously exciting, fantastically wonderful and seriously butterflies-in-the-tummy inducing. I'd rehash the details of the day before we left for Civil Affairs, but let's be honest, no one cares about that at … [Read more...]

today is the day

We are ready. So ready. We spent the day yesterday officially doing *nothing*. But a great deal of our day went to preparing for our girl. We unpacked and organized, put all our clothes away and even did a little laundry. And watched a movie. And played 'Bookworm'. And ate lots of Chinese noodles. A martyr, I am not.Late in the afternoon we headed out on foot to the supermarket down the street. Asher had a hard time believing that a supermarket would actually be housed in a high rise building. Between that, the flat escalators and the various and sundry offerings at a … [Read more...]

It's happened. I've lost my mind. And it doesn't help that I've got a house full of 8 kiddos all day long to keep me extremely occupied otherwise.Thankfully, my sweet husband has managed to get time off of work to take care of all the kidlets while I'll be in China. I gotta say, it's a huge relief to have that monster sized issue resolved. But I'm making no progress whatsoever on my packing. What's the weather like in Nanning this time of year?Or my gifts-for-officials shopping. I'm sure my 'ideas' for gifts are totally old school... any one have any new and exciting … [Read more...]

We have a Consulate appointment. We have travel dates. We have plane tickets. We leave in 10 days. And I am completely and totally losing my mind with excitement. My tummy does flip flops when I think about how close we are to bringing Vivi home.I was in China with my sister this time last year. And had no idea Vivienne even existed.Interestingly, the shared list that included her sweet name was released when we were in China. My sister's in-China rep even mentioned the 'list' and the fact that she'd been up late the night before locking in files for families. At the time, … [Read more...]

the details. tentatively.

Wow. Crazy sauce.Since I put the phone down with my agency yesterday it's been seriously non-stop. I mean, take the head-spinning craziness of getting TA and add Christmas Eve chaos and you've got a taste of what it's been like around here.Add to that the fact that Asher and I don't have visas. And I don't have a POA to travel alone.Thankfully, we'll have both those soon. I'm incredibly grateful that FedEx runs on Christmas Eve. And that the folks at the Assistant Stork know exactly what they're doing. We are tentatively set to jet out of here January 8th.And meet Vivi … [Read more...]
