Happy Birthday America

For the Fourth of July, we went to a party.We don't get invited to many of those. Sunday Snapshot: {guess who}

You must have known who this Snapshot was going to be about.My biggest boy.I can not tell you how great it is to have him home for the summer.Within arms reach. And it was with great joy that I dragged him out late yesterday afternoon to my favorite picture-taking spot.Great joy on my part, at least.He was a trooper. Sunday Snapshot: Zach

Zach.My oldest son.I still remember the joy of holding him in my arms for the first time. He was (and is) so darn adorable. Even the labor nurses exclaimed how incredibly cute he was with his little shock of cotton-white hair and piercing grey-blue eyes.He turned 15 this week. Sunday Snapshot: snowfall

It snowed overnight.A lot.So much so that we couldn't resist bundling up and heading out to enjoy it.Even the big kids decided to come out and play.Snowball fights ensued.Even Seamus was feelin' it.The littles tested out their snow gear for heat-keeping and water-proof capabilities.Thankfully, Cabela's didn't let us down.Tori sported her own got-it-goin'-on style.No big bulky snow gear for her.Despite the cold, Zach managed to hurl some serious snow at his unsuspecting brothers.While the girls took in the beauty of the day.And stayed well out of the way of flying … [Read more...]

the gingerbread house

Take an ordinary, out of the box, gingerbread house kit.Add a bunch of kids.Some homemade frosting.And every topping you've got in your pantry.And you've got a party.The kids had so much fun decorating this ordinary little house.Even the big kids had fun.At least, that's what they told me.Isabelle was obviously smitten with the sprinkles she got to shake out at her discretion.So was Jude.Zach enjoyed making his own personal gingerbread statement with some special frosting additions.No topping was spared.The decorating frenzy didn't stop until the roof looked about … [Read more...]

I spent a good bit of the month of July taking pictures: pictures of my kiddos, pictures of our time on the road, the places we went, the people we saw. Ol’ Smoky

Okay, we weren't really up on Ol' Smoky, but I can't remember the actual name of the mountain we climbed. So Ol' Smoky it will be.It was a beautiful day, nice and cool.
