Check out these curls

Over the 7 months between the time we decided to adopt and actually saw Isabelle’s face for the first time, I spent many moments imagining what our future daughter would look like.

Would she have dark, caramel colored skin, or would it be more fair? Would her eyes be single lidded or double lidded? Would her hair be so black it looked almost blue when it shined?

Of course, the answers to these questions didn’t really matter, it was just a wonderful way to feel closer to the child that had already captured my heart. One question that never crossed my mind was, “Will her hair be straight or curly?”

I assumed that like most people of Chinese descent she would have basically straight hair, the question to be answered was what shade it would be.

Well, Isabelle has some awesome curls! After she’s had a bath and her hair is still wet, it gets this adorable ‘oompa loompa’ kind of curl across the back. I don’t think the curls will stay as her hair grows longer but I hope she always has a little wave in her hair, just keep things interesting.

Our Isabelle. She just does things her own way.
