Sophie Lu~ US Citizen :)

May 1st was Sophie’s court date for readoption. Since I was the only one who traveled for her, we had to readopt her in order for her to become a US citizen and for her name to legally be changed to Sophie Lulu JingXiao. In Georgia it is not necessary to hire a lawyer. So with the help of some online buddies, we were able to get the proper paperwork and file the papers ourselves! On Tuesday the ‘big day’ finally came and we were ready. Sophie looked so beautiful and, even though she didn’t fully understand the enormity of the day, we tried our best to make it HER day. After the ‘hearing’ (really just a meeting in the very nice judge’s chambers) we headed to the China Buffet for her favorite: noodles and chicken on a stick 🙂

We are in Georgia too and want to readopt our daughter. Is there a site you can go to to find info on doing it yourself?
    Congratulations

    Thanks so much, guys!!
Daleea, if you join the China Peaches yahoo group, you’ll find all the info you need there! It was SO easy once I was pointed in the right direction 🙂
