A moment with Sophie

Sophie is hilarious. She is always asking questions and spends a LOT of time wondering about things. She’s bright, for sure. But also, just flat out nosy. She likes to be in the thick of things, where the action is. Lately she’s been asking a lot of questions about China. We’ve talked about China from the beginning, since her nanny and her orphanage were such a big and well loved piece of her life before she came home. She called herself XiaoXiao until recently and now even refers to pictures of herself from her time at Guilin as “Sophie”. But when she sees those pictures, she asks about ‘there’. She says she wants to go there, to China. We’ve discussed as a family going back for a heritage trip and plan on taking everyone when the girls are old enough to grasp the importance of the visit. So when Sophie says, “I want to go there”, I respond by saying, “Yes, we’ll go there. But when you’re bigger.” I know she’s thinking, “But I AM bigger, how much bigger do I have to get?!?” Well, in one fell swoop, she put it all out there, in words, the other day. We were talking about China again and she asked if she could go there, to live. I said, “Well, mama lives here. Don’t you want to live with mama?” and she said, “Yes” (thank goodness because I don’t know what I would have said if she had said NO! I then added, “We’ll go to China to visit when you’re bigger, Sophie” and she said, “When I have boops?”…”Yes, baby. When you have boops.” Thank You God for this precious child 🙂

She is priceless! Put that one in her baby book for sure!(and count on her to remember it in about 10 years or so and call you on it!)

Oh my gosh… this is by far one of my favorite posts of yours yet. I am passing this along to my sisters…

What a heart she has, and so inquisitive. Can’t wait til she gets those boops so she can go back to China and see where she came from :O)
