First week: PLANNED!

I’m doing it! My friends Hayley and Barbie had inspired me to get organized in the kitchen and get planning with my meals for the week. Since I shop at the base commissary, which is closed on Monday, I do my shopping on Tuesday. So my ‘week’ is a bit off with Monday being the last meal I plan for. But I’ll go with the flow and my menu plan will still read like everyone else’s πŸ˜‰

MONDAY: White Chicken Chili (an absolute favorite around here) served with sour cream, scallions and tons of chips!

TUESDAY: Sausage and Rigatoni (in the crockpot), foccacia (I fix the dough in the bread maker and bake the bread in the oven), and butter-lettuce salad

WEDNESDAY: BBQ Pork Chops (just like my momma used to fix), red potatoes and green beans

THURSDAY: Beef Daube Provencal (a la Deb over at Sophie’s World ~ I told you I was going to try it, Deb!) and french bread (wheat since my sweetie is into unbleached flour ;))

FRIDAY: Subs! Family fun night means it has to be fun for mom, too πŸ™‚ We use paper plates, drink Coke and NO manners are allowed at our table!

SATURDAY: Leftovers

SUNDAY: Ranch dipped Chicken, broccoli and cornbread

There it is! Since we eat as a family at least 6 nights a week, momma’s gotta have something to put on the table! And like Barbie, I have a tough time cooking to please the whole crew. The girls aren’t the picky ones, it’s the boys that make a fuss over tiny bits of onion and/or tomato… we’ll see how they like the new recipes I’m trying this week!

I love all the different menu plans. Yours sounds really good though, I love the way the food is done in the midwest and the south. I need to become a little better prepared with cooking too!

I’ve never posted to your blog, but wanted to stop and say hello to you. I’ve followed your journey to Jude, and think your whole family is just amazing. I hope you don’t care, but I put you on my blog roll, for my bloggy friends to follow as well. I love it when everyone posts their menus for the week. It inspires me as well, and helps me think of new things to cook also. Have a great week.

Oh that sounds so good, that is one of my goals over the winter months, I need to make a menu and stick to it! My neighbor was making the chili tonight too, how ironic! I would take pictures of your family in a hearbeat! Ya know, I do usually drive through Georgia over spring break :)! You do a great job yourself!

Sounds like a yummy week at your place!I am also trying to get more organized for dinner! We do pizza night on Friday nights and it used to be pizza and a movie, but now it is when we meet with our small group and STILL pizza night and the one night the kids get a guaranteed dessert!I like the sub idea for Friday night too! Wonder why some of the commissaries are closed on Mondays? We have 2 here- one is closed every Monday and the other is open every day! We have an AFB attached to the Army post, so the commissaries service both branches! Gotta love the commissary bargains!Have a good week!

Looks great! We love-love-love white chili too. I’ve been doing Menu Monday for about 6 weeks and it really has helped with planning shoppping and appoointments, etc. It’s just the two of us and I’ve had years of experience with cooking. I try to add a recipe of something different or unique, too. Not to make more work but to share a little something. Check out my peanut butter cookie recipe!

Way to go Stefani!! Your menu looks delicious! I had white chicken chili for the first time at my parents home on Monday night. I loved it!! That will be on my menu soon as well. Funny we have to please those older boys huh? I always thought teenage boys would eat anything…NOT!

Sounds like a great menu. I do this on my Osborn Odds ‘N Ends blogspot and it has been going pretty well. Now if I can just find the way for the food to cook itself… :o)

    Have a great day,
    Lisa

I am inspired by you! I’m also incredibly impressed that you have family dinners 6 times a week. We’re lucky to have 3 or 4 family dinners a week between sports, church activities and my husband’s call schedule. I do cherish those night we are together at the dinner table, though.

Do you share recipes? I’ve never had White Chicken Chili, and it sounds yummy!

Stefanie….I hope you like the Beef Daube Provencal. Guess the tomatoes could be an issue with the boys. Sophie has just recently started getting picky about them also….hopefully it is just a phase! I think our absolute favorite crockpot recipe on Cookinglight.com is a beef stew:

    Sheri,
Yes, I will post that recipe, and a few of our family’s other favorites, soon! And I’m going to write about how my family liked each of the new recipes I tried this week… should be interesting πŸ˜‰

I am really jealous that you are all able to sit down 6 times a week to eat together. We are running out of room for all of us to sit at one table!!

You have inspired me to be better at planning meals…I have a lot of fussy eaters to deal with…

I love this site. I do it by the month. I go to the organized junkie website to browse and see what everyone else is eating πŸ™‚
