My big girl is getting her wisdom teeth. Half a wisdom tooth, actually. On Sunday she casually mentioned that one of her wisdom teeth had come halfway through the gum. So I called her dentist on Monday who pointed me in the direction of an oral surgeon who, thankfully, was able to see her today. And surprise, surprise! She needs all 4 of them removed. Not enough room in there for them to come in without affecting her lovely, orthodontic-enhanced teeth. Now this is where it gets tricky because Tori is only home for the week, summer school starts next week (Isn’t that crazy? Her summer school starts before the other kids school even lets out!) so she has to get those troublemakers out before Saturday. Once again, God provided and there was a cancellation for surgery tomorrow. TOMORROW. I’m not gonna lie… I am not looking forward to it. I still have vivid memories of my sister getting her wisdom teeth out, it was the first time I almost fainted. My own recovery was traumatic and I gotta say, it was pretty ugly too. Keep my girl in your prayers tomorrow. If she reacts to anesthesia anything like her mama, she’s gonna need it ๐

I’ll be thinking of Tori. We just got word that Hillary’s have to come out too. Oh, keep an eye on her. A few hours after mine were removed, I was found wandering outside trying to get into my car to go get takeout. I was still pretty drugged up with a mouth full of cotton, but didn’t want to miss that meal! Good luck!

Oh poor Tori!
It has been twenty years since I had mine out, do NOT let her drink thru a straw! I vividly remember the pain.
Prayers for Tori, mom too!

Ugh! I had mine taken out. No fun. I’ll be keeping Tori in my thoughts and prayers.

We will pray for her. She will be fine, Mom. Make sure they send her plenty of pain meds home. ๐

Poor Tori. I hope she has the same time that I had. I had all 4 removed (they were impacted) I had no bruising and no swelling, I am a big baby and boy was that easy for me. I had them out Saturday morning and then I was back at work Sunday afternoon.

Oh yeah….I understand totally for Tori and you. Our last round of wisdom teeth out in our house was for 2 teens at one time….yep! Our daughter was 13 yrs old (and yes needed them out that soon) and our son was 16 yrs. I figured since they both needed them out at the same time, it was easier to schedule it all for the same day and recover the same weekend. They both did great and will pray Tori does the same!

Oh …. I feel for her! I had all four of mine cut out when I was in college, and although I didn’t have any complications, it wasn’t exactly a picnic.
I DO remember that my oral surgeous was BEAUTIFUL, and apparently I told him so after I’d been medicated.
good memories

I agree with Cindy – NO STRAWS!! Whatever they tell you NOT to do, DON’T DO! I had dry sockets & what could have been “done’ in a few days, lasted weeks. Yuck. Praying Miss Tori heals quickly!!

Poor girl! Our oldest son got his out (all 4) before he left for college. I did enjoy pampering him with smoothies and such! I hope she recovers quickly.

Poor Girl…what a yucky way to spend her “week” off! My brother had his taken out and was eating that afternoon…no trouble at all – hope the same for Tori. Of course my brother does have a love affair with food ๐

Hi Stefanie,
I remember when mine were taken out too…definitely, no fun. I had quite the character for an oral surgeon. I remember waking up in the recovery room and being freaked out by the wallpaper in the room. The paper had elephants, giraffes etc… and when I was coming out of anesthesia, the animals looked like they were moving! When the surgeon came in to check on me, I told him they might want to consider changing the wallpaper; the animals look like they’re moving! He said to me, with such a straight face, “Tami, we don’t have any wallpaper on the walls.” I about died! Thank goodness he didn’t let it go on too long;-).
I’ll keep Tori in our prayers. I’m sure she’ll be good as new in no time.

Oh I feel so bad for her! I swear my sis lost 10 pounds afterwards, she just had no appetite. Hope it goes smoothly. I’ve been so blessed mine have never been an issue.
Give her my best!
