Sophie Day

Today marks two years since I met Miss Sophie Lulu in the Civil Affairs office in Nanning. What a day that was. She was so reserved, so afraid. Two black eyes from a playground ‘incident’ at her orphanage that included her and another little girl.
She had been obviously very well loved by her nanny (whom Sophie referred to as ‘mama’) and was on target in every way, a huge departure from Isabelle’s condition on ‘gotcha’ day. I was so nervous, just me and my guide standing there, waiting for her to arrive. Then the distinct sound of squeaky shoes approaching made me catch my breath. She walked into the room and my whole being went all soft and gooey-like. She took my breath away. My eyes filled with tears which I quickly wiped away so as not to frighten her. She bravely took the lollipop and Hello Kitty doll I offered her and we went on, onto the business of becoming a family.
Thank You, Lord, for the blessing of Sophie Lulu. She still takes my breath away.

**Sophie’s site was updated today, our final update on that site!**

What amazing memories, I can’t believe it’s been 2 years already. I’ll never forget those first pics from China with her poor black eyes. Amazing her transformation, her growth, her capacity to love :O)

For some reason I could not find your home e-mail address so I thought this would be the next best way to contact you. I wanted to thank you for the basket of goodies. It was completely unnecessay but very much appreciated. I also wanted to send a BIG “Happy Mother’ Day” to the most amazing mum I know. You are so giving & selfless with your children. You truely deserve a wonderful day. Love, Steph

Sopie Makes Six was the very first journey I watched after discovering My Adoption Website while paperchasing…so I have fond memories of that time. Sophie is so beautiful and reminds me of my litte Ella (who also shows off her toddler belly and came to us with a black eye). When our family received our referral, I actually went back and referenced all your updates to educate myself about Sophie’s development, since our two girls are so close in age. I love your blog and check it frequently.
