Iowa trip #5

Jude had his yearly recheck…

Dr. Morcuende said his left foot looks great, but as we sort of expected, he still has some stiffness in his right foot. This isn’t really a big deal, we just need to do some stretching exercises with him daily to help his stiff Achilles tendon. Jude wears AFOs (ankle foot orthosis) to help him walk more on his heel instead of his toes and we are hopeful that he’ll be out of those in less than a year.

Next was Shepherd’s turn

…just look at the improvement in those feet in one week!

One more cast and then the tenotomy!

Dr. Morcuende telling Shepherd he’s got just one more visit and then he’s DONE!

I’m blown away by the miracle of these beautiful feet. I felt just this way about Jude’s experience and I cannot thank you enough for sharing your journey with us. I have found it all incredibly inspirational. I added club foot to our list of possible special needs for our next child long ago and it was all because of your blog about Jude. You’ve done a great job advocating for your children and though I have been a strong advocate for all of my children’s needs, they weren’t things that I knew about up front. I had fears about what special needs I could handle. By sharing, you’ve done a lot to diminish my fears and I now realize I can take on more known medical issues than I originally thought. Thanks you!
