Stefanie:
I have been following your blog for months now and look forward to checking in each day. I guess you’d call me a lurker although I think that word sounds sinister and I’m not a sinister girl.
Your sister’s story really touched me and I thought the giveaway was so well done. I really enjoyed participating in it and look forward to following along as Cole comes home. Does Andrea have a blog as well for us to follow her journey?
My husband and I are in the begining stages of considering adoption. I’m no stranger to adoption though. In 1999 I adopted a 4 month old little boy through a difficult family situation. Unlike many waiting moms I have come across on the blogs…I only had 6 hours notice to pick up my little one and our journey began that day. There was no baby shower, no equipment just me and him and a future that was to lay out in front of us. I was young (at least I thought I was…32!), single and just finished graduate school and was starting my career. It was like a scene straight out of the movie Baby Boom. That was 9 years ago and he is the light of my life and will always be. I sneak into his room every single night to kiss him in quiet darkness (when he is still enough to grab!) and thank God for him..not one day goes by that I don’t realize that I am truly the lucky one although eveyone always says it is he who is so lucky. I was a single mom for many years and finally met and married my fantastic husband 2 years ago. Our beautiful daughter is just one year this month and my husband is the best father to both of our children. I can’t help, however, looking at both of my kids each day and feel that our children do not end with them…I just feel it in my soul. I know that a child waits somewhere for us and we are trying to navigate the waters of international adoption. We are both 41 and have a lifetime of love to share with our kids. Are we considered too old to adopt? If you were a first timer….where would you direct us to start. Is there some kind of Adoption Primer that I should be reading?
I started a little blog (which is quite a feat considering I am a real computer novice) so feel free to check it out to see my kids…its no where near as fantastic as yours but its a start.
I figure since I’ve been oogling your beautiful family for so long its only fair that you see mine!
Your children are all gorgeous and the love that you and your husband share with all of them (and clearly one another) is incredible. I can also say that your loyal blog readers/friends really are something special as well. I just love reading all the comments and watching what a difference you and your friends are making to so many others.
Thank you for allowing me to tag along with you on your days. You are truly inspirational!
My very best regards,
Dita
