Hellooo Lightroom

One of my Rawsii class assignments is to learn how to post process my pictures. Our instructor, Christi, recommended Lightroom 2 (by Adobe) and it’s free to try for 30 days (love that). I had intended to start working with it a while ago, (total slacker student am I!) but ran out of time before we left for China. Anyway, I have finally taken the time to get started with it (and boy, do I have a lot to learn!) but I am blown away by the ways you can manipulate a picture… amazing. I was playing with this picture of Cole last night and wanted to compare the two side by side. What do you guys think: too much? better? or worse?

I still have my BIG assignment to do yet… an official portrait session, and I am so intimidated! But even more of an issue than my anxieties, I need a willing model. I have plenty of models, but none quite what I would call ‘willing’. Should be interesting…

More LR time… I might need some intervention soon.

    Welcome Back!!

Either way, that is one gorgeous boy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Personally, I like the enhanced photo…but they do evoke slightly different feelings, just by the light! Who’d a thunk it?!

You are on your way to becoming an excellent photographer! Funny, I am a terrible photographer, although I am a visual artist…weird, isn’t it?

I’m actually on my 28th day of the free Lightroom Trial and I love it! The only problem is that I JUST figured a lot of it (I’d never say ALL of it) out and my 30 days are about to run out. Darnit!

I love your pics, both before and after, but I actually prefer your SOOC shot.

I like both of them. The lighting in both gives a different feeling in each. I like the bottom one best i think (was that the PP one)?

    Great job!

    The enhanced photo is wonderful!

It gives a little different feeling than the original.

Look forward to some more pics!

    All my best –

I love it! I really want to take a photography class. I know it seems like “everyone’s doing it” out here but, I really want to see what my camera can do….or I guess, what I can do. I love those pictures. And he seems like the perfect subject ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello lightroom! (Emphasizes the Heelloo!!!!) Wow, that isw gorgeous! Love that it’s free for thirty days…I might have to try it out.

Good luck with the models, I run in to the same problem every time.

Either way, I’m sure you were happy to be reunited with all of your models! Welcome back!!

Definitely like the processed image! You took a good picture and gave it that “WOW” factor! I just spent more than 30 minutes last night trying to figure out if I could get that effect in PSE…I finally gave up. Great work, Stefanie!

Ok see..I like the darker picture of Cole because it picks up allthe peaks and valleys of his facial feature But I like the lighter picture of the church.
Now what would REALLY make me DIG the church is if you can make the bottome of the church and the trees a little darker and gradually lighten to the top…too much??? Sorry.;)
go to the hippy site..have something to show you.

You did a much better job with our class than I did! I am still back on metering. Somehow Christmas happened and sucked every last moment out of my life. I’m trying hard to finish the class in the next two weeks. Kind of a challenge when the sun refuses to shine around here!
