A view from the couch

I was quite the spectacle today.

My kids didn’t know what to do with themselves. When I laid down. On the couch.

Sophie snuggled up next to me, in her usual manner. Always lovin’ on mama.

Isabelle laughed at me. And poked me.

Shepherd played. And looked incredibly cute. Even in the mismatched duds. No making fun, folks. My husband is out of town. I am tired. Dog paddling in the icy waters, waiting for that rescue boat to come. Therefore I cannot be responsible for coordinating. Only making sure they have clothes on.
(Most of the time.)

Jude gave me kisses. And told me he loved me. Then brought me the Pringles can. Lunchtime already?
Then he pushed his Thomas around. And smiled for me.

Something about these smiles that makes a mama feel a whole lot better.

I am going to confess…. I only have 2 and Jeff has been gone all week… And, now he is in PHX delayed due to the snow globe that I am sitting in right now! I am ready for a glass of wine after a long week with #1. So, if you would care to bring the crew over, I would be happy to let them run wild!!!! There is always a guest room for you my friend!!!

    Hugs,

Oh, such a sweet perspective. One that I'm sure you don't get to enjoy very often. Being on the couch, that is.

Take care & I hope Chris gets home soon!

Hope you feel better soon and husband comes home soon!

I so know what you mean! Strep last week kept me down for the count for a day and a half. And today?! I was so exhausted from Li’l Empress’s new early wake-up call that I laid down to nap. As soon as I fell asleep, she woke up with a shout! Not even a slow, cuddly wake up. Just shoutin’ in the monitor for Mama to get her up. Good times.

Sometimes a day on the couch really does help rearrange our perspectives! Dust balls and laundry beware….happy kiddos and rested Mamas come first!!
Blessings of health. I can only imagine how sucky it is with DH gone. I have done that before…but only with THREE!!

I honestly don’t know how you do it! But I guess even “supermom” needs her rest. Today my 3 and half year old informed me: “moms are really strong, aren’t they mama?”

I think we all know the answer is a resounding YES!

I hope you feel better soon, and that your husband is home soon, too! Your kiddos are so cute!

Isn’t it so hard to take time for yourself sometimes, even when you really need it?! And no time for Moms to be sick, either. Remember: If Mama ain’t happy (and healthy!), ain’t nobody happy! ๐Ÿ™‚

    All the best,

Your children are just so lovely. I know that you don’t know me but your family inspires me so very often. Yes, I’m one of those blog lurkers! But with good cause, we are adopting from China. And many stories like yours have convinced my husband and I to apply for a waiting child. Thank-you for sharing your life with us and so many others. And thank-you for No Hands But Ours! We hope to contribute a God-sent story when our own special needs adoption is a reality!!!
