picture day

Today is picture day at school.

Typically, I face this day with the tiniest hint of dread…

who is going to fall and have a busted lip?

who is going to insist on wearing an, ahem, unflattering top?

who is going to…

to…

forget it’s picture day?

Thankfully, after a few mishaps in previous years, today I can stand up and proudly say, “not me!”

Not only did I not forget, but I have back up this year.

I took my own pictures.

Since my girls usually come home from school looking like they’ve just come off the Tilt-A-Whirl at Six Fl@gs, I figured why not take a picture when they’re looking their best?

And brightest?

And most adorable?

So, here they are: the official pictures from “picture day 2009”

Held unceremoniously on the red bench in my back yard.

These I’m keeping.

    BEAUTIFUL!!!

And what IS it about school that causes our beauties to come home looking like they've been foraging in the forest for weeks on end??!! That's what Kiara's been looking like at 3:15, anyhow!! :O

These will be MUCH better than the generic super posed against a cheesy background pics than you'll get from school, but you already knew that!

Lovely, lovely, lovely (loved that Gymboree line!!)
Great idea to take your own pics!
I did that last year with Nina's preschool pics – I had her all fancied up, only to remember that pictures were actually the following week *sigh*

I like yours so much better than the "picture day pictures" at school.
I've been doing this for a couple of years now and it always works out!!!
Your girls are just adorable – seems like they've grown up a lot recently??

When I went to school, Mom got a "proof", then got to decide what she wanted to order.
These days, we have to pre-pay, sight unseen & just hope for the best!

Beautiful girls!! I must now how you remembered picture day amdist the flurry of fall activities?! Ours was the second week of school and it just so happened to be the same day LeighAnna had gymnastics (before school). I had her change into her uniform in the back of our van, shuttled her into school with that Tilt-A-Whirl hair and then gasped when I realized it was picture day. I guess I have 12 more years to right this wrong. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love your red bench. Is that a carry over from the red couch?

LOVE them, especially since the Tongginator used to have that dress on the right AND we have a red bench in our backyard.

Ah, what a great idea! They are so cute! What beautiful girls! I, too, cringe, still, at what Picture Day might bring. I try to find humor in the sometimes ridiculously awful pictures they bring home. Until I remember how much I paid for the darn things.

Oh gosh, these are CUTE! I shouldn't be surprised though (since you took 'em and you do have the cutest models).

I remembered school picture day too. I know my kids will have nice looking hair and clothes that day but can't be sure they'll have good expressions. When Maddy forces a smile, she looks like she's in pain. Gwen can fake a smile pretty well but usually doesn't bother and just looks mad. Great. And I had to pre-pay $40 each for their photos!
