waiting is the hardest part

Yes. I am just now getting Vivienne’s care package off to her. About 2 months later than I had planned.

I know, I stink!

We were told by our agency that we needed to wait until we were LID to send anything, and if you know me, you know I always follow the rules.

So I waited.

But then we moved, like 7 days after we were LID. I had all sorts of goodies purchased and ready to go, I was just missing the single most important component of the care package: the soft, squeezy photo album. You know, the one you send so that they’ll study your face and recognize you instantly on ‘gotcha day’?

Or not.

But I wanted to be sure to include it, just so she might not be quite as terrified of me on the big day. I do look just slightly different than her foster mama.

So it’s on it’s way. Hopefully, she’ll love all the yummies and clippies and clothes and toys I managed to stuff into that shoe box. I threw some extra goodies in at the last minute, sending the package way off the ridiculous end of the shipping rate spectrum. But Miss Vivi is so worth it.

Hopefully she’ll get the tiniest inkling that there is someone half a world away, anxiously waiting to meet her.

Someday. Someday soon, I hope.

For anyone who is keeping count, today marks 78 days since we were LID.

Just so you know.

    78 DAYS!! Wowzers!!
Come on LOA, come ON…pretty please!
Last time I mailed a package to China it was just about $10 per pound! Yikes!
Praying for all these updates to go quickly and smoothly.
    Blessings,
    Holly

I feel your pain. We are on day 77 and hoping that our LSC comes soon! Our agency said that we can't send a care package until we get the LSC, so I am waiting on doing that too! Hope we all get some long awaited news soon!!!

We've been reading your blog for some time. We are adopting a special needs 2 yr. old boy from China and have been waiting 112 days for our LOA. We are hoping it will come soon!!! We would have been THRILLED to get our LOA at 78 days.

    Hope your LOA comes soon!

    Howdy from the post-waiting–
I just wanted to say that our daughter (home 6 weeks) still talks about the day she got our package, with her dress and her "ooo puppy" book (snuggle puppy, a book with a song that's sung with lots of "ooo"s). She calls it her birthday (it wasn't).
I know it meant a lot to her–and she's only 3! Hope yours gets there safe, and I just do think it' s worth that shipping $$!

I totally know that I was the very first white person the Tongginator ever saw. She came around the corner, looked at me and and this expression just sort of appeared. It spoke to me. And it said, "man, she's got a big nose… and she's really pale." All of that to say – glad you sent a photo. Heh. Hang in there. TA WILL come soon.

With our first adoption, we waited 165 days for LOA. It was excruciating. We haven't even LID yet with this adoptiion, but I don't look forward to the wait. Check out the song "While I'm Waiting" by John Waller. It will minister to you. I'm praying…

Oh, Stefanie, I'm sending you a big hug! The waiting is soooo hard! We are so close, yet so far away… 6 weeks since LOA and no sign of TA yet.
We both know the wait is a distant memory once we hold our precious children, but the journey can be so difficult.
