sweetening the pot

In the summer of 2004, God opened my eyes to the orphan in China. This was a truly life changing moment for me as I had never even considered adoption before. Never. I, to be brutally honest, thought adoption was for people who were not able to have children biologically.

But that all changed when my husband came to me and told me we had a daughter in China. My eyes were opened and I will, thankfully, never be the same.

Since that day, four and a half years ago, God has been at work more than ever in our lives… most of all in bringing home four amazing children from China, with one precious little peanut on the way.

But He also laid a burden on my heart to help those left behind. To help bring to light the need for families for orphans in China, specifically children with special needs. And out of that desire, to ultimately help families find their way to a waiting child in China, came No Hands But Ours.

If you’ve been over at No Hands But Ours lately, you’ve probably read some of the incredible contributor posts. Wow, seriously! We have been blessed by the talent of many creative and generous women… and there will be many more heartfelt and eye-opening posts to follow in the coming weeks.

Can you tell I want you to get over there and check it out?

I do. So much so that I’m sweetening the pot to make it happen.

Recently, I gave away 3 shirts to celebrate the one year anniversary of Wild Olive and, well, it was stinky, crazy fun (you can see one of the winners gettin’ her verse on here) so Amie and I decided to give away more.

So here’s the deal: for the next five weeks, we’ll be giving away one tee a week. And all you have to do to be entered is head over to No Hands But Ours and become a ‘follower’.

Amie and I will choose one name next Saturday, October 24th out of the list of ‘followers’, and we’ll continue to do that weekly... with the last winning name being chosen on November 21st.

(‘love {unfailing}’ is the newest arrival at Wild Olive, it will be available on our site before the end of October)

So there it is… no linking, no posting (of course, you can if you want to ;)) but really all you have to do is join as a follower on No Hands But Ours: the blog and you’ll be entered to win one of five Wild Olive shirts we’re just giving away. If you win, you can keep it for yourself, get one for your kiddo, or give it as a Christmas gift… it’s up to you.

And you’ll be blessed in the process by joining us over at No Hands But Ours. I just love it when everybody wins 🙂

I'm loving this! What a fun idea. I have been a follower for a while, but I'll be sure to post about it this week to spread the word.

Thanks for all you do to spread the word and share the JOYS of being an adoptive parent. I'm excited about the opportunities that come across our paths EVERY DAY to share the stories. Pray for us – we're speaking at our kids' ministry in the first week of November and at our agency to some waiting "sn" parents. SHIVERS!

I posted your blog and the No hands but ours blog on my personal blog about a week ago and I just became a follower. I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Teresa and I'm a mommy to Ali (5), Sammie (3) and Josiah (11 months). Josiah was born with a cleft lip and palate and I think that's how I found your blogs. I've been so blown away by your adoption stories and I am so encouraged by how you have obeyed the Lord in countless ways. Thank you for sharing your life. Know that a little mommy in California is blessed by your beautiful heart. You inspire me to seek out what it is God wants to do with my life. I could go on and on, but just wanted to say "Hi!"

    Hey mamatree!
Thanks so much for taking the time to say "hey!"… I can't tell you how grateful I am to know God has encouraged you through our story of adoption! Indeed, HIS stories are the most beautiful 🙂

Ya know…I really should check my spelling before I hit "enter"…I meant to say "FORMALLY" following you, not formerly, which means something totally different & not what I intended!

    Hope you all are well!!
