I know. I just posted about Jude. And I was just thankful for him.
But this is something completely different and totally unexpected.
He gave us quite a scare last night.
We were, again, at football practice. And all the littles were playing on the bleachers. Yeah, the ones Isabelle busted her lip on, just in time for school to start.
You think we’d have learned our lesson by now.
He fell, a long way down, and landed on his face. And his mouth bled like crazy. Thankfully it stopped relatively quickly and he was coherent enough we didn’t think we needed to take him to the emergency room. Where we could all pick up some lovely H1N1 germs, nothankyou.
He seemed fine once we got him home and settled on the couch with an ice pack and Thomas the Train. But once he fell asleep, we worried. Especially overnight. We woke him several times to be sure he was still, well, alive and not suffering from a concussion.
I slept fitfully at best. After all, I did have to wake Chris to get him to go check on Jude.
It was such a joy to see him this morning as he padded downstairs in his jammies, chattering away. I couldn’t wait to scoop him up and cover him with kisses.
So many days I take our health for granted. Not today. I am so so thankful he’s okay… and not just okay, but fine.
Even if he does lose his front two teeth.

I am SO HAPPY that Jude is OK!!!
UGH! Scary, isn't it?? We just went through a similar situation with Kiara – a big ol' head bang on a metal post at recess…needless to say, I didn't sleep much this past Monday night!
Jude sure is devilishly handsome even with his bandaged chin!

So happy to hear he's okay!
Sweet little blessing he is…

I am SO glad I'm not the only one who does that! Glad to hear he's just fine.
PS- someone told me that if you suffer a concussion you almost always vomit like crazy, so it's hard to miss. That helped me sleep a little better knowing that if I had to changed the sheets, wash the carpet, and cut the clothes off my child THEN, and only then, should I worry! ๐

Oh gracious! I heart him! Glad he is ok!

Oh Stefanie!! I am so glad that he is ok!!

Yep, guilty of the same…taking it for granted that we are healthy.
This summer our daughter ran into the molding around the door to our porch which was open as she was racing in her 2 year old fashion through the house. It split her forehead vertically like a watermelon and it required 40, count 'em, 40 stitches over three layers of skin. It bled like crazy and I was certain she had a concussion from the sound of it.
She was smiling and eating m&m's in the hospital an hour later…no concussion but her father and I got even grayer than we already were.
She's FINE and we learned a lesson ourselves…don't ever take it for granted.
So glad Jude is OK…and he'll be just as handsome without those teeth if they decide to go…luckily there are more where they came from for him!

Praise God that Jude is okay! Sweet little guy!! I have done the exact same thing when my kids (usually DAWSON!) have bumped their heads for 'whatever' reason. I'm so glad we have the Lord to rely on!! And if Jude does happen to loose his teeth… well, at least they're his baby teeth… he'd eventually lose them anyway, right!?! ๐
Hugs,
Tanya

My youngest son "lost" his front tooth after he fell on our brick fireplace. Our dentist said it is common. So glad he is ok, I am sure it was a scare though !

So glad Jude is okay!
Oh … those darn bleachers. Jackson had to get 6 stitches in his forehead after a fall from the bleachers during big brothers track meet last spring. And of course we will never forget our only girl knocking out her front teeth at the post office while applying for our passports!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
Kim

Brayden tripped over his dad's snow pants in the hallway in January and hit his front teeth on a SOLID wood chair. (Dad was headed out to snow plow we don't regularly have adult's snow pants on the floor–honest! Kids perhaps unfortunately maybe … )
The amount of blood from his mouth was incredible too! (Only to be rivaled by the blow to the head he received from a golf club at his kid birthday party in May at the PUTT-PUTT golf course!) His front tooth did turn dark and was sensitive for a time (the dentist even said he believe it was dying) but since then it has returned to an almost white shade and isn't painful … thankfully he too was okay … and it is a baby tooth. SO GLAD that Jude is Okay! Yes, we cannot take health for granted–it's so easy to do now days … it's such a blessing!

Ya know, when I fell off the bleachers at age four, I broke two ribs and cracked several others. Methinks Jude needs to work on his technique.
(So glad to hear all is well. That is scary stuff – my mom should know – heh. And I hope the teeth survive.)

thankful with you ๐ (and he's so stinkin' cute!)

Isn't it the scariest when they take a serious tumble on their head right before bed time?!? I am so happy he's ok. Praise the Lord!!
Denise says

Oh my goodness. We sure know what you are feeling with this one – been there with our Baby BlueEyes. He lost 4 baby teeth in a traumatic run in with an ATV. Two adult teeth in so far, one likely to die off sooner than later. Still waiting on the other two to come in. We drank lots and lots of smoothies and milkshakes while the stitches in his lip healed and the gums came down.
SOOOO glad it wasn't worse. Soooo glad he was so happy in a.m. And he's still a cutie – just has a certain rakish charm with his war bandage on now ๐

Oh! Look at the bruise. Head injuries Bleeeeeeeed! Mouth, head, ear, you name it..those suckers are gonna bleed.
Poor Baby! Tell him Miss Andrea said that "Chicks dig scars"… At least that is what Stacy tells the boys when they get hurt. LOL!

Yeah – I feel for ya! Got the call tonight at work from Dh, telling me he was on his way to Emergency Room with DD who had a lollipop stuck in her throat, but that they thought it went down – finally – and decided to turn around and go home. Dd was able to breathe and talk through it all I understand (thank GOD)so the only result was a sore throat and a lot of trips to the bathroom as she drank a bunch of water trying to get the thing unstuck.
Anyway – its terrifying and those head injuries are really hard to deal with – worry all night, 24, 78 hours etc. Glad he is ok. Maybe fewer football games, or at least bleachers.
