helping those who need help most

If you’ve been around here long enough, you know we know Joe and Jennifer from My Adoption Website. And we looooove us some Joe and Jen!! We ‘met’ when we were getting ready to travel for Isabelle… and they created the most beautiful and special website for our journey to her. I treasure every picture and every post from that site.

Ahhhh, memories.

Anyway, you also might remember that about this time last year, Jennifer put together a fundraiser to benefit orphans in China through Love Without Boundaries.

And if you donated or shopped that event, you’ll remember, it was so. much. fun. Personally, I did both. I’m not sure which I enjoyed more.

Well, Jennifer is at it again this year and *insert trumpets blowing* she’s chosen An Orphan’s Wish as the charity that will be benefiting from this fundraiser! I am so stinkin’ excited… I can’t wait to witness the adoption community rally around this effort to help special needs orphans!

I know, sometimes it’s hard to help. Sometimes you just can’t do it. But this time, I know you can! Last year there were so many cute clothes, it was easy to find something you just had to have! But if you can’t afford to shop, couldn’t you look around in your kiddos closets to find a few gently used outfits to donate? Just think of how blessed these little ones will be by your efforts!

If you’ve read this blog for a while, and you’re still hanging around, then I know you’ve got a heart for the orphan. And here is a very real, very much needed way to help get warm coats, snuggly pyjamas and cloth diapers to kiddos in China who are being cared for by An Orphan’s Wish. And it’s fun!

Here are the exciting details on how to help, from Jennifer at My Adoption Website:

The first and very important way to get involved is to donate an outfit or two. If you have children, I’d be so grateful if you could part with a few outfits she (or he!) has outgrown.

Another way to get involved is to purchase a special outfit to donate. There’s nothing more fun than shopping for a great cause! Most children’s stores have their fall clothing discounted now and you’ll have no problem finding darling items at great prices.

Next, please email me quality photos of the clothes that you’d like to contribute by November 14th. Two photos would be ideal: one of the entire outfit, the other a close-up of any feature you’d like to highlight. A photo of your child in the outfit would be wonderful too!

Please email photos and clothing descriptions by Saturday, November 14th to: myadoptionwebsite@yahoo.com. Please put “fundraiser” in the subject line. Include the brand, size, any important details and, if you like, the original retail price. Feel free to include any other details you think would be of interest to buyers and bidders.

The fundraiser will begin Wednesday, November 18th at noon. Some items will have a set price, and other will be auctioned. Remember, you will hold onto the outfit and mail it directly to the person who purchases or wins it. I handle all the invoicing and collecting of money; your role is to photograph the clothes and then mail them when the time comes.

It’s that easy!

And of course, another wonderful way to contribute: visit myadoptionwebsite.com on November 18th and do some shopping! ALL the money you spend will go to An Orphan’s Wish!!

A few more details: 12 months is the smallest size I’d like; toddler clothing is ideal; and even size 6 or 7 is great!

~ Do you create and sell unique children’s clothing? Consider donating an item – – this is a SUPER way to get your business recognized! I will happily include a link to your business site on the sale or auction page, next to the item’s description.

~ Don’t forget the boys . . . I’d love to include boys clothing again this year!

~ While I hope that the majority of donations will be clothing, please feel free to donate items such as shoes, hats, bows, etc. Several boutique-brand coats were donated last year, and they raised a lot of money!

Thank you, thank you, in advance, for your generous participation! And remember, we’ll need SHOPPERS when the fundraiser begins!!

Here’s one of the items I’ll be donating… isn’t it sweet?

Even comes with a little matching brocade purse.

So she can shop, along with her mama.

Please consider getting involved in this year’s fundraiser! It would mean so much to Joe and Jen, so much to me, but most of all, it would mean more than you’ll ever know to the kids at An Orphan’s Wish.

Oh how cool!! Count me in. I'm going to hop on over to Jen's site and then grab my camera and snap some pictures. I have some outfits I have been meaning to eBay but haven't gotten around to it. And I run a hair bow business so a big donation of bows is in order too!!! It's so much fun to help raise funds. Thanks for sharing this opportunity.

This does not apply to this post … sorry!

But I just wanted to say THANK YOU to your family and especially to your DH Christ for serving our country. WE attended our local parade and I was reminded of all I know (OK, I don't know you but I feel like I do) who serve today.

Thank you, thank you for all you do!!!

I just wanted you to know, I did something completely out of character today. I attended an organizational meeting for a widows/ orphan care ministry. And I offered up my minority viewpoints. And they listened. And only one out of four people seemed to hate me. It was wonderful. And I think God wanted me there. But I wanted you to know I went – because a friend asked me AND because of you.

Stefanie I would love to donate some baby announcements – I don't have kids or clothes but I would love to do this if it fits in with your plan for this very special auction. If not, I understand – maybe some other time. I love reading your blog and praying through your adoptions. Hugs to all you do!!! Please let me know your thoughts, Andrea http://www.tobeinvited.com

I just came across a pair of Vivi's old black high-top Converse in a toddler size "3" …excellent condition; they don't even look like they've been worn. Would be happy to donate if you'd like; if so, let me know and I'll take pics!
