the gingerbread house

Take an ordinary, out of the box, gingerbread house kit.

Add a bunch of kids.

Some homemade frosting.

And every topping you’ve got in your pantry.

And you’ve got a party.

The kids had so much fun decorating this ordinary little house.

Even the big kids had fun.

At least, that’s what they told me.

Isabelle was obviously smitten with the sprinkles she got to shake out at her discretion.

So was Jude.

Zach enjoyed making his own personal gingerbread statement with some special frosting additions.

No topping was spared.

The decorating frenzy didn’t stop until the roof looked about ready to give in.

Just one more marshmallow, thought Shep.

And a few more sprinkles, insisted Jude.

The candies finished. The sprinkles gone.

Waste has been laid.

Fun has been had.

Sugar has been consumed.

Love has been shared.

Lots and lots of love.

That gingerbread kit was worth every bit of the $5.00 I paid for it.

What fun! And oh such precious memories. Love the pics, especially the one of them all together. (Can't believe how Zack is looking so grown up.)

oh….please tell me you just did this today. That would make me feel SO much better because I just opened my tupperware cabinet to find the gingerbread house kit I bought an easy two weeks before Christmas just sitting in there. Do it now or not had been my debate all day. But tomorrow? YES….tomorrow the ginger bread house! You've inspired me with the fun of it!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ (And reminded me that I have to do SOMETHING with it!)

So adorable… can tell how much fun they are all having. I have said this before but it strikes me again in one of these photos…my Kate resembles your Sophie. I am not sure if you see it but I do:)

We make a gingerbread house every year; it's a highlight of the Christmas season! So much fun. Since we never eat ours, I buy a kit after Christmas when it's on sale and put it back for the next year. It's a great way to make special memories! It looks like your gang had a blast!

We got the same one (for a bit more dough) and had so much more fun with it than I thought we would. It was worth every penny.

Thanks for sharing all your great pictures!

We just did our $5 gingerbread house from Wal-Mart yesterday! We probably should have watched the video because that "wait 15 minutes" thing didn't go over so well, and we had a precarious cave-in!

Ahhhh..who doesn't gather around the table when there is so much sugar at stake?? Of COURSE the big kids loved it – you are never too old to consume ridiculous amounts of sugar during the holidays!

Hey! My kit was the same one, and it cost me 10.00!! Were you able to resist until it went on clearance? I tried, and could not. ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm wondering if I can still manage to find one at the store for clearance price….Hmmm….looks like enough fun to at least try.
Very cute pics, I love the last one with all the kids

We bought the exact same Gingerbread House (for the same $5) and it totally collapsed on us once we started decorating the roof! It tasted good, but the pictures of our Gingerbread House will not be posted on my blog. ๐Ÿ™‚
