another Lenten update

Today marks three weeks gone between myself and Ash Wednesday. And three weeks closer to Easter.

One blessing borne of giving up something I love for Lent is that I am, in an whole new way, looking forward to Easter. And I don’t mean that as just, “I get to eat sweets again! Bring on the Peeps!”

Even though I do think of that often.

I mean that Lent has given me a chance to count forward to something very, very special.

Without the Resurrection, there is no hope. No relationship with God. A one way ticket to h-e-double hockey sticks for every man, woman and child.

And the fact that Jesus did conquer death, and on that third day He rose, and in so doing, covered all our sins now and forever…

that’s something to really, truly celebrate.

“For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.“
1 Corinthians 15:21-22

P.S. In case you’re wondering if giving up sugar and snacking has resulted in any extra room in my jeans, let me tell you… my muffin top has never looked happier. Or more fulfilled.

At least I’m feeling it on the inside.

I soooo agree!!! Easter means soooo much more to me these days, for the very same reasons!!

Although, I have to admit, I already picked out my "peeps" color for this year 😉

Great stuff – and good insight! At the risk of being a little too 'light' on the topic….and with no disrespect intended to anyone….

    Roses are red
    Violets are bluish
    If it weren't for Easter
    We'd all be Jewish!

    I'm just sayin….

    hugs – aus and co.

I am feeling your pain as we both chose to give up sweets and snacks for our first Lent.
The second plate fulls I am eating at mealtime have helped curb my snack cravings (and ensure the scales don't fluctuate). And visions of raiding Easter baskets is helping with my sugar cravings!
But seriously, the true blessing is the extra prayer time during Lent and the anticipation of Easter and all that it means for us!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,
    Kim

i'm shocked by this aus &co. comment… even in jest, i guess i don't see the humor.

we are jewish. so was jesus. this is our heritage, these are our roots. i love that my church teaches that and reminds us of that.

as for hell, i know only this:

god is love. and love does not condemn – it is rooted in forgiveness.
