the spot

I’ve been looking.

And I think I might have found it.

I’ve been on the hunt for a new *spot* in our yard.

You know, for pictures. To take the place of the very overused ‘red bench’.

I still love me some red bench. Especially in a pinch.

But after a while, even I get tired of seeing it in every. single. outdoor. picture.

I have a tendency to get stuck in ruts.

I came across this spot quite by accident the other day as we waited for the bus to arrive to take the girls to afternoon kindergarten.

Right smack under this very stately, very big and very old tree.

I love the gnarled bark and the mossy roots.

And it provides the high shade essential for optimal outdoor lighting.

What do y’all think? Have I found it?

Regardless of the location or the lighting (and in spite of the unskilled photographer) I think my Sophie Lu is absolutely beautiful.

PERFECT spot, I'd say! Although honestly, your kids would look good photographed just about anywhere! Stinkin' cute.

Love it! It's perfect. I love the texture of the tree, and the green background in the distance.

This time of year it is perfect. I love spring (or what we get of spring up here in the NE) when everything starts to bloom and turn green. They are beautiful pictures-she is adorable!

Frankly i'm just slack-jawed and jealous at how GREEN your yard is right now. And that your kids are wearing short sleeves. I'm still waiting to do that final washing of the long underwear…and got scolded by a Chinese lady for not wearing it yesterday. 🙂

Oh, and beautiful shots & location. 🙂

    Stefanie,

Your love for orphans is so inspiring. I'm actually stopping by to invite you to participate in a blog tour for my newly released inspirational book for parents: One Million Arrows: Raising your Children to Change the World. Looks great! Can you get any in the tree? I love tree shots. I think they just scream summer and fun.

And second, I do believe you have found the new spot. It's perfect, and since I've read this I've been trying to figure out where my outdoor spot will be…

Yep…I'd say that's the perfect spot. Very 'shabby chic' if I do say so myself!! 😉 I don't think there is anything better than photos out in nature. The subjects at hand always take center stage and the lighting is perfect. Miss Sophie would look gorgeous ANYWHERE though!!

    Hugs,

Beautiful! I know what you mean about overused spots. I have two in my house. One has clutter in the background and the other vertical slats of the deck making my children look imprisoned in every picture.
