As is often the case with many resplendent moments in life, this one was not planned.
We were all at a picnic and decided to take a stroll to see the nearby coastline.
As all the kiddos dispersed and busied themselves with whatever captured their attention… throwing rocks, collecting seashells…
Sophie stayed close.
Like she usually does.
She asked me to take a picture of her. And I’m so glad that she did.
Pigtails with bows, her favorite style, just slightly askew as usual…
these pictures really embody who Sophie is.
The things that make Sophie, well… Sophie.
She loves to pick flowers for me.
She even brings them to show me, and then run inside and put them in water. Then she gets the stool so she can reach to put them up on the window behind the kitchen sink.
In my favorite vase. Where she knows I’ll see them all the time.
Sophie doesn’t miss a thing. She could probably tell you more about who does what in this house than even I.
She can’t wait to be the boss of her own house. And she’s stated that when she’s big enough to get married, she’d like grow her family through adoption.
From China, of course.
She’s naturally shy, so being part of a big family really suits her. If given the chance, she’s happy to blend in with the crowd.
Only in the last year will she join in where she is in the spotlight (think dance contest and ‘talent shows’) and it brings us so much joy to watch her confidence grow.
She loves school. She loves exploring. She loves learning. She is reading sight words and has mastered her Bob Book collection.
While Isabelle dreams of being younger, Sophie can’t wait to be older.
And she giggles every time I remind her that she simply can not turn seven in January. She just can’t.
I don’t think I’ve recovered from her turning six.
She soaks up life all around her and never refuses an opportunity to go some place new.
She’s happy. She’s fun. She’s loving.
And currently, mama is still her favorite.
I know it won’t always be that way.
That’s why I’m trying to capture it all now. I don’t ever want to forget how she loved to pick flowers.
For me.
To join in this week, just copy the code under the Sunday Snapshot button and paste it into the body of your Sunday Snapshot post where you’d like the button to be displayed. Once you hit ‘publish’ it should show up just fine π
Then add your link below.
To do this, go to your blog. Click on the title of your new Sunday Snapshot post. The new url in your browser window will be a direct link to your Sunday Snapshot post. Copy that url and paste it into the inLinkz window below. If it’s just a general link to your blog, I’ll have to remove it. And I hate that.
Feel free to link up on Monday if you’re too busy on Sunday. I’ll leave the inlinkz open through Monday night… because I know some folks who like to link up a little late π

What a little beauty…and with a heart of gold. She sounds like such a treasure. I have a little vase of dandelions and violets on the window sill behind my kitchen sink, too. Usually dry and brown for many days before I'll part with them.
Blessings,
Monica
