Oh ! Same thing happened to us…shoes and even my new silk pottery barn curtains !! Thankfully, I had put a note saying not to leave packages on porch or dog will eat. They ended up refunding me my money because the UPS guy didn't read the note.
How do you get your postman to leave packages? I always get stuck having to take myself to the central office to pick it up. They say it's against the law to leave it unattended.
We call our dog "Naughty nuisance" but she IS beautiful and she has been VERY therapeutic for my younger two children in dealing with Daddy's deployment, grandma's death and our failed adoption. So she stays. And she? Is digging holes to China for us in the back yard. You know, to save on airline tickets. Real helpful. Can't figure out how to train her out of it either. Thought of tasering her. Hmmmm. Spent $100 at PetSmart on obedience classes but they taught us how to teach her to sit and lay down and wait…NOT to quit digging up the yard and eating Josiah's panda bears!! Turns out? They don't have a class for that. Go figure.
Hi, COuld you email me, please? I was curious if you heard that the states reimbursment was federal outlawed in 2008. I received it in 2008 and it took alot of work because they did not lik eto do this for an international adoption. In fact she just emailed me and said "No, that is not what it was intended for." If it was a federal law, that means it is across the USA, so I was curious if this was new for you too. Thanks Jenne chavafor4 @ yahoo .com
And would that be because Seamus got into something in the box – or because you were thinking about skinning him yourself for 'helping'? 😉
Ya know – if you get yourself 'inside' the dog's head – there was something in that box (or at least 'had been' in that box) that needed to be gotten to, I'm thinking 'mouse'. Like the earlier comment about digging – I'm thinking 'vole'. They're dogs – and just doing what they think is good for their pack. And that's trainable….just work at replacing the bad behavior with an approved one (like going 'on point' rather than attacking). I'm sure there is someone nearby you that trains hunting dogs – that's who you need to get with!
We had the same thing happen with us the first year we had our dog … we had just built our barn and were expecting 2 "free" Morton Building coats. We waited and waited … then we noticed some strange packaging blowing through the snowy lawn one day … we picked up the pieces not sure what it could be … and the next day a few more … and it continued … like a month later we found one of the jackets (mine) HAD been delivered … however Sasha had intercepted it and after demolishing the box (the small pieces we had found drifting about) she buried the coat (now nibbled in spots) in the snow! Had I not been pregnant and sick as a dog myself I may have been upset … ha! I ended up printing a small sign that said "Please leave packages ABOVE dog-height or in the barn" and glued it to one of those freebee magnets I had gotten in the mail and laminated it before sticking it to our metal door! (It has worked really well.)–So sorry about your package!!!

I'm pretty sure he was only trying to help open the box.
