I posted over at No Hands But Ours today…
and tried to answer the question I’ve been asked by parents waiting for a referral in the SN program, “How will I know if it’s my child?”
And in the process, I walked down memory lane with our own referral experiences.
All five of them.
Might have gotten a little misty, too.

I read it earlier today and it was really great to hear the different ways in which you found your kiddos. My friend keeps telling me I will just know and I haven't ever been so sure of that. It always made me nervous, cuz what if I really don't know right away?? Does that mean I'm a bad adoptive mom?? I'm just glad to hear your experiences with it….makes me feel better about how it could work for us.

Great post over at NHBO – and I got a little misty too….and you couldn't be more correct….you just know. I share a 'shorty' – adoption #2….
in those days the waiting kids lists were very open to everybody on line….
We had adopted #1 less than a year earlier, and my dw Marie heard the call for #2 way earlier than I did (yes – I was a reluctant husband – in capital letters!)….
#1 was laying in bed with us and clicking forward and back on the web browser open to the pics of waiting kids one evening and she found her sister. Looked at the picture and said, "that's my sister, we can go and adopted her, put a bandaid on her ouch, and she can play with my toys". I noted that – and looked at the picture – but didn't comment….
Fast forward a couple nights – she did the same thing – but found the same picture….I put it off to a fluke – just random luck…..
Go forward exactly 7 evening, and yeah, it took her a while longer (about 15 minutes of searching) but she found the same child…..
Well, I'm not a fool and while I might need to be told more than once sometimes – I heard His call that time, looked at Marie through misty eyes and asked her to request the file….8 months later we were in GZ and home for Christmas (but still jet lagged!!)
Yeah – memories….
hugs – aus and co.

Glad to meet you "East".
I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow, and I’m glad I did. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become one as well.
