The day finally arrived.
I wasn’t sure who was going to be more thrilled that today was finally here. Isabelle, because she’d been talking about her special day, nightly, for six long months. Or me, because she’d been talking about her special day, nightly, for six long months.
But I couldn’t hold a candle to this girl today.
She was seriously floating on air.
From the time her feet hit the floor this morning.
She was, as her new hat clearly indicated, the birthday princess.
She helped me bake her choice of cakes: “brown on the inside with pink on top.”
She also requested tiny pinwheels to adorn her cake. Unfortunately, T@rget doesn’t sell any such tiny pinwheels. Humph.
One thing we’ve learned about Isabelle, she definitely marches to the beat of her own drummer.
And she has captured us: hook, line and sinker.
It’s pretty hard to be around this girl and not fall in love with her.
I might be slightly biased, though.
She loved her do-it-yourself popsicle supplies.
And her ZhuZhu Pet, “Pinkie”.
And her clothes from Tea.
She soaked it all. in.
And just loved every second.
It was just a few years ago that an event like this would throw this little one into sensory overload.
But today, just over five years home, she was the picture of calm. Joy. Serenity.
She has come so far. In so many ways.
It’s hard to prepare for a day when you know someone has been looking forward to it for months and months. And months.
When expectations are running very, very high.
But some how,
I think we managed.
Happy sixth birthday, sweet Isabelle.
We are immeasurably blessed to be your mama and baba.
Y’alls Snapshots were so sweet last week. Seriously. It was hard to choose… but my very favorite was one that not only made me smile big, but had one of the best ideas I’ve seen in a long time. Over at 3 Peanuts. Yes, I will be using her ‘list’ idea next Father’s Day. Genius.
To join in this week, just copy the code under the Sunday Snapshot button and paste it into the body of your Sunday Snapshot post where you’d like the button to be displayed. Once you hit ‘publish’ it should show up just fine 🙂
Then add your link below.
To do this, go to your blog. Click on the title of your new Sunday Snapshot post. The new url in your browser window will be a direct link to your Sunday Snapshot post. Copy that url and paste it into the inLinkz window below. If it’s just a general link to your blog, I’ll have to remove it. And I hate that.
Feel free to link up on Monday if you’re too busy on Sunday. I’ll leave the inlinkz open through Monday night… because I know some folks who like to link up a little late. Like me 🙂

I have watched Isabelle grow up through your blog. We adopted our daughters about the same time. Isabelle is just 2 months older than my girl. They both dealt with some of the same sensory issues and look so much alike.
When I read this post it almost made me cry. She HAS come a long way! I've watched her and I know you have. She has blossomed into a beautiful princess and has come so far. Remember what they told you a couple years back about her? They were so wrong!!! She is so sweet and precious! Happy Birthday Isabelle!
Happy Birthday Isabelle!!
Happy 6th Birthday, Isabelle!!!!
I have watched her grow from the very first photo you received of her from China & she has truly blossomed into a wonderful little girl, filled with a passion for life!! Her smile is as big as they get in that 2nd photo!! Clearly, a child who knows the true meaning of love & family!!

My daughter turned six on Friday! When was her actual birthday? They are only a day or two apart! How fun! The pictures are beautiful. And my daughter, Ali, also got some goggles!
Her birthday was Saturday 🙂 She might be the happiest six year old on the planet!

I have watched Isabelle grow up through your blog and she has grown up so much! In so many ways, she reminds me of my sweet Bella. And just like Isabelle, Bella reminded me of her birthday for a LONG time before it actually happened!
Happy 6th Birthday, Isabelle! May all your dreams come true 🙂

Happy Birthday beautiful Isabelle!
I will tell you this, these photo's are AMAZING. And secondly, I've told you this before, but Isabelle is the first heart child I ever read about and saw pictures of, and I fell…hook line and sinker.
She is my inspiration, always has been – always will be. I adore her!
Oh so sweet! Isabelle's spirit always makes me smile. I'm so glad that her birthday lived up to her expectations.

So one day soon, I plan to get in on this Sunday Snapshot thing. But I was wondering…. what equipment do use to get these beautiful clean indoor, harsh flash free shots? 🙂
Thanks, and I love to see your blog…. it is great!
