Sunday Snapshot: {hats}

We got some new hats in the mail the other day.

It was reason enough to take everyone outside and try ’em out.

Camera in hand, of course.

Clearly, the kiddos were pretty darn excited.

Other than birthdays and Christmas, there aren’t a whole lot of occasions that they get new stuff in the mail.

I let them each pick their very favorite hat to model.

Some kids, ahem… picked more than one.

But with a smile like that? This little one usually gets what she wants.

She has just melded into our family so perfectly. Honestly, I am thankful on a daily basis that we didn’t let fear keep us from committing to bring her home.

She reminds us that our only limitations are those we place on ourselves.

And this one? Well, he’s not far behind on the spoiled scale.

He’s doing great in school. Positively loves it… which is a huge departure for our normally shy guy. But my breath still catches when I see that tiny little hand wave to me from the bus window every afternoon. How I love this little man.

He reminds us that a physical defect in no way, shape, or form determines the value of an individual.

Oh, my Isabelle. She recently moved from half-day to a full-day of school. She needs the extra time to fit in all her IEP requirements and still have time to just be a regular kid.

And thankfully, she loves it. We are hopeful that this will help her close the gap a bit more before she starts first grade next year. She’s come so far. But she still has far to go.

She reminds us to celebrate the big and the small victories.

And the Shep Dog. Newly four, he’s learning to do all sorts of big boy things: brushing his teeth, buckling his car seat, drinking from a big boy cup.

But he’s still our little guy.

He reminds us that you don’t have to be big to be mighty.

And Miss Sophie Lu?

Positively adores school. Learning to read. Happiest when she has a box of markers laid out in front of her, working hard on a masterpiece to proudly hang on our refrigerator.

She reminds us that the world is one big adventure, just waiting to be had.

Good thing you never get too old to learn new things. Our kids teach us on a daily basis.

Some days they teach us to be humble.

Some days they teach us to be proud.

Every day they teach us what it means to be blessed.

Brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things! (Sorry – we are still Sound of Music-ing over here.) Glad the littles enjoyed their package so much! They look adorable.
