the stockings were hung…

Okay, I admit it.

I’ve been a tad behind this year.

Despite my best efforts to have everything done ahead of time – so I could enjoy this most blessed season stress free – I’m afraid I’ve missed the mark a bit.

And yesterday?

We finally finished decorating the tree.

Thankfully, no one but I knew that I’d hoped to have this, and a long list of other things, done a week before.

Like having all the presents bought and wrapped.

Stocking stuffers ready to go.

Christmas cards addressed and mailed.

Grocery shopping complete.

But instead of stressing over what wasn’t done, everyone just enjoyed the moment.

Surrounded by family.

Relishing all the blessings of 2010.

Hoping that you are filled with the joy that our Savior brings, surrounded by your loved ones this Christmas.

How does a family with more than 2 or 3 kids get everything done!!! My parents had 7 kids and they never wrapped any of our presents, and you know we were so excited by our own little stack of stuff that it didn't matter! As I sit here resting on Christmas Eve before the last push for dinner, baths, opening a few presents, cookies and letters to Santa and bedtime stories, I hope I can find a few things on the "to do" list to skip, revisit or let go! Hey, I just turned 55 and my two girls are 7 and 6, my big ones are 30 and 27. My son is currently deployed in Afghanistan for his second tour, and I know I can't get it all done and I can't even begin to try! Back to work, enjoying the excitement of our girls wanting to go to bed early so Santa will come!!!

Merry, merry! In the long run, no one will care about the lack of cards or perfectly wrapped presents…
Continue to enjoy the moments with ALL your blessings!
