Vivi’s news

As y’all know, Vivienne is newly potty trained. Which also means. she is occasionally prone to potty mishaps.

And, during this phase called potty training, we are in to all kinds of bribes encouragement at our house. Whatever it takes, if it costs less than $1, we are in.

Vivi was exceedingly successful with the initial stages, when the praises were endless and the M&M’s flowed freely. But now? She’s not completely convinced. So she’s called our bluff and we’ve had to up the ante. Any deposits (of the non-liquid kind, ifyouknowwhatImsayin) made in said potty? Result in a big pay off.

The Kit Kat.

Vivienne’s absolute favorite.

So, when we were at the grocery store the other day, and she was wiggling in her seat, I gently reminded her:

“Kiiitt Kaaatt, Viviennnnne…”

She was on it like a dog on a pot roast. We headed for the ladies’ room.

And then, after a successful potty visit – and a thorough hand washing of course – Vivienne was ready to call her daddy to share the good news.

I dialed and as soon as he picked up, I put the phone up to her ear so she could be the bearer of her very good news.

“Daddy?”

*I’m assuming Daddy is responding*

“I poo poo, Daddy! I poo poo in the potty!”

*I’m assuming daddy is celebrating*

I then encourage Vivi to wrap it up, so she ends with, “I wuv oo, Daddy!”

I take the phone back and before I barely get a word out, Chris says, “Hey babe?”

“Hey! Did you hear Vivi’s news?” I reply, cluelessly.

“Yeah, we’re in the middle of a meeting…

and you’re on speaker phone.”

Ummm, yeah. I knew that.

P.S. Working on part 3. Seriously, y’all, this ain’t easy. This has been a really really tough road and evidently I’m still healing, because the words are just not coming. But I am working on it. And I promise, I’m gonna share it. Just didn’t want y’all to think I was purposefully holding out on ya. Cuz I’m not πŸ™‚

Our littlest, Nolan, is potty training too … although we're still in the beginning M&M stage. He too called his daddy on the phone yesterday to share the joy of his first potty visit! He was on speaker, but NOT in a meeting. What a hoot for your hubby to get to share the joys of potty training with his collegues though!
Can't wait for your story … although it sounds like a heart wrencher … what a blessing to know how open you and your husband are in communicating your hearts and being open to God's requests. Truly beautiful!

Poor Chris πŸ™‚ But hey, it makes for a great blog read πŸ™‚ I will never ever infinity EVER forget Josiah telling my dentist that "My Mommy had her nipples cut off" when he meant MOLES (not that he needed to share THAT either). Ranks up there as one of the most embarassing moments ever. Little ones sure can humble us in a second πŸ™‚
Also eager to hear about the rest of the story…whatever it is….the Author is at work for good, even when we don't understand.
    love,
    Holly

Love it!!! If Vivi is anything like Jailyn she would have loved the fact that everyone knew!!!
My friend sent a gram to her hubby on a submarine (when our hubbies served together) 45 words and she took up space to tell him that there son had his first… (you know) on the potty! She got responses from the entire pacific fleet who had intercepted the gram over morse code. tee! hee!

Fabulous. I have SOOOOOO done this before (hubs at work on speaker phone) He's called me before and asked something (may have been dumb) and I MAY have said a bad word or something only to find out I was on speaker phone among his subordinates. Awesome stuff.

    Way to go, ViViCakes!!

I had a feeling as I continued reading this was headed for the dreaded speakerphone. In my case it is the dreaded bluetooth in his truck. Yeah.

I love your idea on potty techniques. We too pulled out all of the stops with one of ours. He was not adopted but I'm not naming names. I basically deplore potty training. I'm just sayin'.
