heaven

Just finishing up Breaking Free by Beth Moore.

It took my sister and I a bit *ahem* longer than the 10 weeks laid out in the book. But we did finish.

And learned some liberating truths in the process.

Beth? You are good.

So what’s next? I do love to have a study to work on, but always, always have my spot marked in my Bible.

Studies are optional, the Bible is mandatory. I am in Isaiah now and will continue reading it through, again and again. Always a fresh, beautiful truth to uncover.

But the other day I stumbled across this, really without even looking.

Seems it sort of found me.

Of course, with the subject of heaven and our precious Esther’s very recent passing, it seemed most apropos.

And, because a few of my sweet kiddos are struggling with understanding exactly where Esther is, we bought the companion book for children.

I think it’s gonna be good.

I have yet to read this and didn’t even know the one for kids existed. If you haven’t read anything else by Randy Alcorn, I would also recommend Safely Home – a fictional story about a missionary to China. I have loved all of the things I have read by him….enjoy it! Hope to hear your ‘review’ of it along the way…

Randy Alcorn is the best author I’ve read on Heaven. It will change how you think about eternity…in a very good way! There is a story book too for kids

I just read the book “Heaven Is For Real” by Todd Burpo. You could read it to the kids and it’s simple enough they would understand. It’s an amazing book about a little boy who went to Heaven and sat on the lap of Jesus and came back.

Thanks for the book info. I’d love to pass along to my dear sweet friend who’s 3 1/2 yr old passed the Friday after Mother’s Day ~ an undiagnosed illness put her in a coma for 12 weeks and finally, she went Home.
PS – when’s Poppy coming home………………. is she still waiting?

we own a copy of “heaven for kids” and have used it on numerous occasions to help answer those tricky questions that our kiddos come up with.

Stefanie & Stacy : I would highly recommend “Mommy Please Don’t Cry” by Linda DeYmaz. Wonderfully sweet and encouraging book for Mom’s.

Wow! Sam, thanks so, so much! This mom is pretty wrecked right now. She was praying for a sign that her little Emma Grace was okay and when she was cleaning the other day, found a Mother’s day card from preschool from last year that EG had hidden and forgotten to give her ~ she was so comforted by that…….. thanks again.

Love Randy Alcorn! His novels Dominion and Deadline gave me a new perspective and a real excitement for Heaven. Also loved the novel Safely Home by him!

These are what I call “staples” on our bookshelf. Each time we have faced a loss I was so glad to have them handy. I recommend them to everyone to have on hand, kind of preventatively. Sometimes it’s hard to remember what we know to be true when faced with the hard things in life. Still praying with you guys.

Heaven is the BEST book! I’m a “skip around the book” kinda gal these days and the questions and biblical answers in the back are the BEST! As an animal lover, I loved his take on animals in Heaven. I love when he says that “he doesn’t know” about certain questions instead of making something up! I just love it! I especially love the fact that we will DO things in Heaven and that everything and everything we DO here on this Earth is somehow preparing us for Heaven. I’ve never been a “I wanna go float on a cloud with a harp” kinda gal, so Alcorn’s biblical vision and description of Heaven is HEAVENLY! I can’t wait to see all of God’s creations restored and redeemed as they/we should be in HEAVEN!

Oh, I can only imagine how wonderful any book about Heaven will be! We should all spend a lot more time thinking about it!

Our pastor loves Randy Alcorn, I may have to pick those up myslef. My dad passed last year and my kiddos have a lot of questions too. May I also recommend Safe in the Arms of God by John MacArthur. Tons of comfort in that one as well.
We’re still praying for your heart Steph.
    Be Blessed!
