Meet Isabelle’s newest friend.
She spent the day at home yesterday due to a short-lived upset tummy – as in, she threw up on the bus on the way to school.
So sorry, Ms. Fran. I owe you a big batch of brownies.
By late morning we’d gone through all the Bob Books we could find. And several math worksheets.
Out of desperation curiosity I logged on to a website that had been recommended by one of her teachers.
I’d been a bit put off by the name… Reading Eggs. Really? What kind of name is that?
Within 5 minutes, we’d signed up for a free 14 day trial.
I helped her out for the first few minutes, and then she was ready to fly solo.
A few hours later, I had to pry her off for lunch.
And today, after she finished her homework, she was ready to give it another go.
Admittedly, I’m behind the online educational tools curve.
But really.
If it makes my girl smile, helps her learn to read and is free?
I’m starting to think Reading Eggs has quite a nice ring to it.

Have to ditto Starfall.com. Two of my kids have taught themselves to read using it. As a home schooling mom, I adore it!
Another fantastic site (also FREE) is http://www.sheppardsoftware.com. Has pre-K/K stuff as well as math, science, grammar, geography, and some cool thinking games for older kids.
