Sunday Snapshot: {the redo}

Tori has been in her new apartment a few weeks.

Long enough to get some good piles workin’ in the corners.

And for utter chaos to take over.

After recovering from some horrifying flashbacks of my own college days, I rolled up my sleeves, told Poppy I loved her, and dug in.

For the next 2,874 hours we organized.

We laundered.

We painted.

And then we rested.

And ate.

And laughed.

Partly because we always have fun together. And partly because, after all that hard work, we were certain that this was the best pizza. Ever.

*burp*

Seriously though, my girl has the down-low on the best spots to eat for under $20.

And the three of us walked out of there very, very happy.

Then, back to work.

Next project was a dresser my mom found for $50.

Nice and solid, and the perfect size. But not exactly Tori’s style.

So we sanded.

And spackled.

And painted.

Poppy quit early.

Evidently, she feels her toddler status is a free pass to sleep anytime she wants.

Good thing she’s so cute.

The next day we celebrated that the previous day’s work was behind us.

Then we put everything into place.

The bed was put onto it’s frame.

The new knobs were attached to the freshly painted dresser drawers.

And all that stuff that had been inhabiting the corners of her room finally had a home.

We even managed to put up last year’s Ikea purchase.

At last. A place for that Star Trek poster.

And all of a sudden, we were done.

And the weekend was over.

It was time to go.

We were all sad we had to say goodbye.

But we will, most definitely, be back.

I love you, my biggest girl!

Looks fabulous! Could you please share what products you used on the dresser? It looks so professional! Poppy looks so incredibly happy and secure these days – any tips on how things changed “relatively quickly” after she got home? Thanks!

      Hey Jen!
We just used Behr Ultra Premium paint (it has primer in it), some sandpaper and the little 4″ foam rollers to apply. That’s it! It really was pretty easy ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Stephanie! Could you please share the color you used? So all you did was sand and then paint? No stripper, no clear coat/varnish? How many coats of paint? Thanks again!

Oh my goodness!!! What a fantastic make-over!!! Absolutely LOOOOVE the re-vamped dresser! You are genius! It probably won’t sound very nice… but its so beautiful that Poppy got so sad about leaving her big sister?! It warms my heart to see families that just can’t live without each other! xx

Love seeing the bond between the girls! Funny – our first adoption occurred just as the oldest two were leaving for college – and that triggered some ‘issues’ with the newly adopted (and youngest) daughter – seems she thought we (Marie and I) might be going away next….wow….a couple rough nights there!

    hugs – aus and co.

Wow, the dresser turned out great and it doesn’t even look like the same one. Looking at Tori’s clothes pile did give me few shudders. Good to know now she’s got a place to put everything!

When can I schedule you and Poppy for a visit at my house? Actually given the number of rooms and piles, several visits. The kids will help poppy learn lots of new things with the swingset, tennis cour and stram across the street.

Wow–is every wall a different color? I love the color in the shot with the picture rod…but I can’t tell what it is! Looks good, though. Good job all!

GREAT job! Looks like a place I would like to be. Can I ask what the pictures and poster were hanging from? That looks cool. Thanks for sharing.
